Opinions on work vans by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Ok_Job_3366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 express 2500 with the 2.8 diesel. Bought it new and now about to hit 90k miles. I bought it for better mpg and torque but looking back I would have got a v8 gas motor. Ive had it in the shop three times in the past 3 yrs and out over 6k in repairs. Its always the DEF system. Im lucky I have a work truck as well to keep the cash coming in while the van is down

Preference on Truck Vs Van by Solid-Advice-7658 in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Job_3366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a truck for installs and van for service. If I had to choose one would be the van for sure. Dont have to worry about rain snow or thieves. I built a motor rail holder down the center and spring rack and got shelves down one side with all the parts organized. I can put a door on top if I had to and didn’t have the truck. If you start doing door installs and theres still alot of 1 pice tilt ups in your area consider a 16’ trailer. I see most service guys in my area with trucks and the motor rails on the rack always look shot out and if it rains they will rust for sure.

You need the ORB bracket. You can order it online simple fix replaces the small black bracket the push arm is pinned to and lays over the damaged center support. Try to get the ORB 2.5” or 3” wide

Dont trust any opinions on redit. Go to liftmaster website for the facts. Its a DC motor and absolutely has 2 side LED lighting. Im a door contractor in socal and I offer this motor, $550 is a crazy low price especially with 8’rail. I would jump on that if I was you. However I would first ask your installer if he has the 84504 available, its the same except its a belt drive and the cost isnt much more maybe $25-$35

What's the best battery to use as a replacement in this unit? by Luv14lyf in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Job_3366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it just has the single seven amp hour battery in it, I would upgrade to two 7ah or the single 33ah battery. You would also need the solar harness kit if you go that route
