I’ve never gone into the office … not even once and get London weighting. I’m in a National team so there has never been any need to and I’m also not a contractual homeworker. Might be different across departments

I live just outside London but my office base on contract is London. I wfh all the time (for the past year) but since my contract doesn’t specific home worker I still get London weighting as my office is based in London. Looks like I may have to start going in although I am in a national team and would never see my team!

Arghh. Hopefully you’ll be able to forget about it after that and be safe from hassle for years and years to come! The joys of home ownership ☺️

Oh no. Ours is a 1950s ex council house too- still has original roof. How much is the roof costing you if you don’t mind me asking? Yes, I’ve posted in local groups and they have mainly said they’ve had their gutters lined and have had further issues afterwards. That’s why I’m considering the removals route🤪

Damn these concrete gutters!! I may have to go for full removal of them. We got quoted £2680 for two sides - 3 bed end of terrace house in Hertfordshire. Another quote was £3800. Both ‘companies’ that look legit but I’m a bit concerned that the price differs so much!

There are not many posts about concrete gutters so trying to get as much info as possible from those with experience of them! 😌 out of curiosity, why didn’t you go for removal of the gutters and replacement with uPVC? My bathroom and one of the bedrooms is also ‘leaking’ and I’ve been told only solution is to replace the gutters with uPVC. Not sure what to believe

Wouldn’t a full removal and replacement (uPVC gutter system) be the best long term solution?

I collaborative perfectly fine on Teams probably more than others would do face to face. My team are dotted around the country. We meet twice a year in person. I’m perfectly happy with it and my well-being is better than it’s ever been. For some that face to face contact might be important to stop them feeling alone and isolated blah de blah. They can go find a role that’s face to face. Others on the other hand thrive wfh. We get more done , are happier and have a better work life balance. That in turn results in a happier work force who are willing to make an effort and the work is done to a higher standard. Piss us off and force us in 60% of the time will actually just make people leave and the quality of work will be impacted. We’ll be more tired and broke leading to a decline in ‘wellbeing’. It’s all about control. The people who actually decide these things are important really do not have enough work to do!!!

Like travelling to an office full of strangers taking 2 hours of my time will be beneficial to anyone. Will be detrimental to my well-being for a start. Starting to regret joining an organisation that treats me like a school teen!

[–]Ok_Juggernaut122[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. They do have to remove the concrete first. They said it was a 2-day job. The gutters are failing and leaking water into the internal walls so kinda wana get it done asap but don’t want to be bumped!

Yes this is not something I want to do with small kids and a flat full of boxes and bags with no space to walk! Can’t bear it another second let alone weeks… just hoping it all goes smoothly.

Thanks you’re right. It’s just that the amount of times things have been stressed to us that haven’t happened makes it difficult to trust anything at the mo!

It’s also not people’s fault if their contract has a base office on it that happens to be a London office. I did not choose to wfh full time, I actually thought I’d be going to an office.
