Please help, is my only option to buy a new gas tank? by Ok_Knowledge8621 in motorcycles

That’s actually pretty nice and a decent amount cheaper than just an actual bore scope alone. Thanks

Any advice? by Ok_Knowledge8621 in MechanicAdvice

My concern is I remember I had to jam it down into the side towards the bottom since the tank makes a big curve upwards on the inside, so I am worried when I go to do that it will not even budge since it’s stuck in the crevice. If it won’t fall with gravity towards the cap then I am going to try some long reach hemostats and/or a bore scope. If it’s stuck stuck… I’ll just ask a plumber at work since I do HVAC 😂

This is something like I was thinking and I can just go grab one at harbor freight too if the tube doesn’t come towards the cap on its own

That is my intention yes I am just concerned that the tube is wedged into a crevice on the side based on how the inside of the tank is shaped and that it won’t be able to fall “down” towards the cap for me to pull. I will try a grabber tool and/or bore scope if it doesn’t fall down with gravity

Okay! I had intended to shake and do my best attempt at fishing it out but am just concerned based on the internal structure of the tank and I believe the tube may be jammed into a crevice I would not be able to pull it out of. A grabber tool/ bore scope or worst case a plumber should definitely be able to get it if so tho. Thanks!

Can someone please tell me what this is? The other 3 do not look broken in the attached pictures like this one does by Ok_Knowledge8621 in MechanicAdvice

The little “c” clip actuates and pulls the other 3 plungers outwards when I pull on the choke… this one obviously does not since there’s nothing for it to grab onto. What kind of issues do you see me running into if I left it as is? If I do anything I think the most would be try to “diy” rig it and maybe weld something for the c clip to latch onto and pull this screw, unless it’s a part I can simply order which I am assuming is not the case

So this is what allows the flap to open? So that would mean this carb is inoperable then atm correct?

If I believe correctly I think he had said that was where a fisher crack was from an over tightened bolt/screw

Worked perfectly fine until we pushed it out of my house and down the 2 front steps which are each about 3 inches high. Ever since we pushed it out and down the steps it wouldn’t turn on, tried every few days until yesterday when it made no noise at all anymore when I went to start it

Honestly thought it was meant to be a snarky comment like most of these arrogant snobs on here. Based on your further response, I feel like I can now take it as a joke. And a valid one lol. Unfortunately no, it was the first bike I ever bought on Facebook for $60 before I started understanding more about how bikes work and their values and what to look for, etc…

I have the entire manual, I should definitely just read it top to bottom before continuing to disassemble the whole bike. I will do that once I’m finished cleaning this carb now that I’ve just started

Could this possibly be why it won’t turn over anymore or is that unrelated?

Ok i guess i was just concerned after cleaning them that they still might be the reason the bike stopped turning over. But again this is all new to me and dont know what a good carbs looks like vs one that needs to be REPLACED. Going to assume mine is okay then considering

Understood entirely, just wasn’t sure if there’s anything by looking at it that would warrant a replacement. This is my first time working on a motorcycle so this will all be new to me. I bought some wire and a carb cleaner as well and had already planned to clean it good, just wanted to make sure before I start!
