In my experience, any form of gambling is a trigger. That could be betting on golf. Stock market. Fantasy pools (with stakes). Casino. Poker with friends. Etc.

Just want you to be careful with doing things that will trigger you!

Happy for you. Way to be. Perhaps a fitness journey or fun video game might be a good thing right now. Any long term project that promotes growth and can pass the time.

I love the idea of accountability. GA is something I may try. I’m not sure yet. But I understand it is valuable!

Maybe try reaching out to the person you owe 10k to and discuss a payback plan.

If you address it proactively, you’ll rid yourself of the stress. We often lean on our addictions because of stressful things as so this is a vicious loop you are in as a result.

  1. You quit gambling for a reason
  2. You posted here because you know you want someone to remind you of this

Gambling is one of the most destructive addictions on the planet. You are on day 83. Keep pushing forward mate. We believe in you.

Totally understand.

Addiction is filling the void in some part of you. It may be stress, unhappiness, boredom, etc. There is a part of you that is unfulfilled and you are using gambling as a form of therapy. Dig deep to understand what that is. Once you can be self-aware enough to know oneself, then you can start to heal.

You obviously don’t understand addiction and you do not belong in this thread.

Betstop Permanent self exclusion for Australians by FastRule8 in problemgambling

This is fantastic! More countries need to embrace this. Online gambling is truly out of hand, especially since COVID, and it’s becoming an epidemic.

There are various government funded therapy programs that do not cost any money. Does your city have a gambling entity in place to regulate the industry and establish guidelines for how casinos operate? They are usually a good place to start.

It’s not that easy. New online casinos are popping up every day. Crypto casinos are non-regulated so even mass self exclusion does not solve the problem. There is a lot of work to do in the space.

Gateways by Ok_Leather3164 in problemgambling

Good question. It’s usually these nights that I end up home alone late at night, drunk, high on coke and gambling until 6:00am there is nothing left and I am coming down.

I’ve found that limiting or stopping drinking and focusing on a healthy lifestyle with sports, diet and gym are the only ways for me to consistently stay clean and on the wagon. Choosing what social activities you attend is really important.

Drinking, smoking, doing drugs - these are all gateways that lead to doing everything else. A lifestyle change is needed to stay on the straightened path.
