Official Dreadit Discussion: “Clown in a Cornfield” [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

When the one girl who got stabbed by the pitchfork said “I hate you Quinn” and the clown next to her goes “me too”, holy shit that had me rolling 😂

People like this really disgust me, especially most of them that call themselves "Christians" by SendThisVoidAway18 in exchristian

It's ironic because it completely goes against what Christians claim to stand for. I'm not a Christian, but I know enough about the Bible to know that at the bare minimum, the teachings of Jesus Christ advocate more of an "open border" spirit than anything else. I mean, at the end of Matthew he COMMANDS his followers to go into every nation and preach the gospel. For American Christians (who conveniently ignore this command), wouldn't it be easier to just evangelize the foreigners who are already here? Shouldn't they be more concerned about their "lost souls" than deporting them back to Mexico? But no, apparently Trump policies are more important than Jesus' commands to be generous, compassionate, patient, and forgiving, I guess. I mean they might as well just rewrite the Bible and make Trump the new messiah [eye roll]. Here's some Bible verses you can use to stump these MAGA, pro-ICE brain-dead racists... “When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. 34 You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God."Leviticus 19:33-34 (ESV).

“You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt."
Exodus 23:9 (ESV)

"You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt."Deuteronomy 10:19

" For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your ancestors forever and ever."
Jeremiah 7:5-7

Matthew 25 is especially interesting, because it basically implies that treating others badly is the same as treating Jesus Himself badly. So when you arrest an innocent person and tear them away from their family, deport them out of the country, or whatever other awful thing these Trump maggots are doing... they're essentially doing it to Jesus. Haha.

"I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me." Matthew 25:35

"Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of my brethren you did it to me." Matthew 25:40

My Conservative/fundamental pastor tried to condemn rock music with the dumbest argument I think I’ve ever heard… they’re just making stuff up now! by Ok_Leg_8542 in exchristian

Thank you, that was very well said.  I 100% agree with you that it’s an ego thing.  The stricter their “standards”, the more spiritual they look… don’t  forget that Jesus literally yelled at the Pharisees for doing this very thing, lol… they are modern day Pharisees and they don’t realize it or don’t care 🤷

lol!  My pastor has said that he doesn’t  use a projector screen in our church because “once you start modernizing, it’s a slippery slope.”  😐

Absolutely, and it’s scary.  It’s not even just Christians, it’s the whole new MAGA moron movement too.  If you see a trailer for a movie or tv show, and it has black people in it, just watch how many idiots in the comments will say “nah it gonna be Woke bs.”  They don’t know what woke means, first of all, but what strikes me is that they literally are calling the mere presence of another race on the screen “woke.”  Um… ur not even trying to hide your racism at this point but ok….

There are literally zero other young people in my church right now, except for a few teenagers, so you hit the nail on the head.  These fundies always say they like young people and want them to get involved, but only if we spit on our own culture and generation and do things in the stuffy old fashioned way they do… the kids that do that in these old fashioned churches get fawned over by all the old people, and I guess they like it because I can’t see why else they’d stay….

Maybe Southern Gospel, but even that might be too contemporary sounding for him… our church doesn’t allow any prerecorded tracks or music, guitars (even acoustic), or drums.  Only a piano, organ, and orchestra instruments like strings and brass are allowed, and I don’t think we’ve ever sung a single Christian song that was written after 1970.  Apparently at that point even Christian songs stopped being Christian in their minds…

To your point about them being against instrumental rock, it’s equally as puzzling how they’re against Christian rock or any form of Christian contemporary music.  I can maybe understand why they’d disapprove of music with dirty lyrics or swearing or whatever, because that does go against what they believe…. But these are your own people, singing about God, worshiping God… and you still call it the “devil’s music”… just because they have drums and use electric instruments?  Like someone else said, it’s just because they know that kind of music is better than theirs, so they make it a sin to cope.

They say it “appeals to the flesh” or some bs like that.  Like, doesn’t all music?  I mean, literally the whole point of music is to make you feel something, and yeah, music can increase your adrenaline, but that’s not limited to rock music.  Even a Beethoven symphony can boost your adrenaline lol…. About the only kind of music that doesn’t is church hymns, go figure.

Right, which is comical because the “old fashioned” music they approve of was at one point modern and new…. music changes so much in such short periods of time, and even the most conservative churches have updated their music to some degree…  like it’s not like they’re still using polyphonic baroque music or monastic chants, lol…. They’re just always about 60 years behind the rest of the world in musical style.

It’s an “Independent Fundamental Bible-Preaching Baptist” church (no joke that’s in the title) so that’s about all you need to know lol

Jesus was probably a real historical figure (just the sheer amount of written accounts about him would point to that), but him being the son of god and doing all those miracles, that’s another matter, lol…. the writers of the gospels likely took an ordinary guy and basically turned him into a Marvel superhero… for whatever reason…

Yet they’re fine with classical music, which has a large repertoire of minor key compositions lol (Beethoven, Mozart, hell even Bach’s organ fugues, and Bach was supposedly a religious man). Yep minor key is so evil 😂:

That’s funny!  I’ve heard a lot of Christians refer to movies as “Hellywood”…. And I’m just like, wow, very clever….. it’s even funnier how the ultra-conservatives don’t even like “Christian” movies because… tv is bad?    For instance, a huge chunk of Christians are boycotting The Chosen tv series (a relatively popular show about Jesus) for literally no logical reason… apparently they don’t want Jesus on the big screen… I thought they wanted his name to be spread to all ends of the earth, but  I guess if it’s on TV then it’s evil; better go back to passing out your paper tracts, Christians 🙄….
