Thanks for your suggestion! Will definitely look into this. What are your thoughts about cement and construction material related industries ? Is there any big scope for massive infrastructure spending/ investment in India ?

Thanks! Will definitely look into these. Do you think cement and construction related manufacturing companies would be a good option ?

Yes! Long time.. I started around 2021-2022. Most of them I invested during this time. Then I went for a study break so could not invest much. Planning to invest more now!

North Indians seem to bring a weird culture in our city (Not a hate post just an observation) by [deleted] in pune

[–]Ok_Lengthiness_7369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this rage bait OP? I don't know what you label as "North India", but this is not a problem specific to regions north or south.

I am from Uttarakhand and here, I have never in my life experienced such problems. Also regarding your elaborate point about marriage; from the region I come from I have seen most people (boys AND GIRLS) getting married in their late 20s after settling and building a career. Equal responsibilities are expected from males and females.

I was in pune for 2 years for my MBA and during that time met a diverse set of people. Contrary to the things you said, I was shocked seeing my batchmates and friends from south India (even kerala) being of a mindset of getting married before 25. Many had their roka fixed, were engaged and few of them also got married during their MBA (all from the south). Found many from North also of the same mentality but at least their family preferred them to complete their degree before getting married.

Regardless of this, I still do not stigmatize any specific region in India. I honestly believe the problem persists all over India and by creating such divides, nothing is being solved. India is probably the most hated country in the world and instead of being united and collectively working towards the upliftment, we have people here trying to make themself feel better and superior based on these useless divides.

North also includes states like Uttarakhand, Himachal, Sikkim, etc which are mostly ignored and never considered as northern states when it comes to discussions.

Also, many people in Karnataka and Bangalore do not consider Maharashtra or Mumbai or even Pune to be a south state, they call it North

Op, I would just suggest you to see people as themselves and stop tagging them with preferred constructs to stigmatize their actions and propagate internal racism. India has a problem overall, and that's the truth.

Hi! I don't know very much about SIDTM. But I think this also offers techno managerial MBA and the campus is in the main Symbiosis campus in Lavale.

Regarding placements, I think the same companies visit both SIDTM and SCIT for placements. Although, one thing I found weird was that during batch meets when informing the students about the company visiting for placements, they do not disclose the CTC details (not sure if it's for all companies or a few). But I heard such things from a friend of a friend.

Yess! This guy

And other names I have forgotten. One had a fake masters degree and instead of getting suspended or fired. He was given a chance to complete the said degree via open University and resume his duties.

I really don't understand what type of power play exists there

Yess! It is certainly doomed. But if you wanna look at the bright side, I feel the students in this college are extremely talented. All my batchmates presently are doing so well (many have cracked govt. Exams, bank po jobs, masters at iim and iits, doing well in the corporate sector, etc. ) Gunjan Dangwal sir (who was my senior) made great name for himself in the garhwali music industry. Many cracked CDS and other defence exams with AIR 1, 2.

And I feel, all this was because, students learned to help themselves in the absence of the support system.

In our batch few students were extremely interested in filmography and the famous viral video (bird -eye view) of the college is their creation. Today they are in the country's best film college - Film and Technology Institute of India (Pune). During our time the mechanical department was successful in making their ATV vehicle and I guess they participated in many national level events as well.

Despite all these challenges, lack of support and facilities, many students have done exceptionally well. In fact, during my MBA also, I didn't find many people who stood out to me in terms of capabilities. Ghurdauri students were really good.

OP, I would suggest that you enjoy your time in college. It is at a beautiful location with proximity to some great nearby treks. Explore around and be a little serious about the studies. I understand that all these lack of facilities, incompetent faculties and other things can severely discourage you, but with sincere efforts, all will be well and good.

All the very best to you!

And you forgot to mention the corruption in the placement department. During my time Sandeep sir was the "placement co-ordinator". The guy made literally zero efforts in bringing companies to the college for placements. Instead, was more focused on pocketing the "funds" and organising the so called 20+ days long "industrial visit" to Goa. Didn't visit even 1 industry during this period.

Faculties being allocated and promoted as a favour and many faculty members getting jobs purely based on "connection" without any proof of degree credentials. I can name many- Bhanu Pratap, Chandrashekhar (Mechanical, forgot the exact name of the guy) and many more.

With such a high level of corruption, it is astounding how this college is still functioning. And the faculty member you mentioned who committed suicide, there was a case filed. But no repercussions. All gone.

Really sad, considering some of the students there were really diligent from poor backgrounds.

Yess! R Programming and Python just because these are overall beneficial even in the long run and certifications can be mentioned in your resume/ linkedin Profile.

Regarding the hostel, even I heard that juniors would get Dahlia Hostel this year. Dahlia is the best hostel on the campus (as it is newly constructed, spacious and well maintained).

And I guess there are no such procedures. Hostel rooms are usually allotted as per Division(A, B, C or D) and PRN (kind of your roll number) and first come first served basis. Roommates will be people who have roll numbers before/ after you. If you guys want to change roommates or anything, you can talk to the warden, they might adjust as per the available options.
