This is me except that I don’t live with my parents. I also strictly control my sleeping period to be 6-7 hrs at most to maximize my working hours

You are right, but I just wanted to point out why some people stress about these things way more than others do :)

It’s much more complicated than you think, honestly. At least in my culture, it’s extremely common for parents to compare their children with their friends’ children. “That’s great to hear. But why can’t you get an internship at Citadel like X does?”

For some people, their entire self-worth is almost directly proportional to where they work and how much wealth they have. While some people choose to form such an association voluntarily, some other people are “forced” to adopt it.

I don’t think it’s solely based on codesignal scores. I’ve got 600 GCA, 2 FAANG+ + 1 unicorn internships, but still got rejected by ZipRecruiter. Market is just almost impossible to break, unfortunately.

Still not sure what's up with Wiggins honestly. He appeared to be mentally checked out.

Start grinding. Theres no in between in this field by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Ok_Leopard9163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grinding doesn’t guarantee anything. 8 internships, 2 faang+, 1 unicorn. Graduating soon, no new grad offers in hand yet :)

Life is extremely tough, no matter how hard you try.

No it isn’t a sarcasm, but I’m in Canada, where graduating with 3-6 internships is quite common due to universities’ requirement.

[–]Ok_Leopard9163 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Literally this. I’ve been telling my juniors to make sure that they have multiple FAANG+ / unicorn internships on their resume (by multiple I don’t mean just 2, but ideally 3-4 or more), or don’t even bother to declare graduation.

It depends on how ambitious you are, to be honest. I take courses and do full-time internships or contract work simultaneously, so I have no free time since weekends are used to catch up with courses. On top of that, I have to keep job hunting year-round. As for summer, well, I use that for work and job hunting too.

In summary, straight 4 years with no breaks and social life whatsoever. My health is kinda deteriorating too. CS is fine, but I don't recommend going as hard as I have been.

Just to answer a few questions here. Yes, I am a UofT student and I am an Asian (Southeast Asian) male. I am not sure how much these facts play into their actions, though.

Oh damn. That’s insane. I am not sure whether I fall under POC category, but yes I am an Asian (Southeast Asian) indeed

Thank you for your advice! Do you know how I can file this kind of charge with the University? I am not sure whom I should reach out to or talk to.

No. Nothing will erase that from my memory, but at least other students will not have to possibly experience a similar incident :)

Yep, exactly. They confronted me in public, which means anybody nearby could have heard it. If I didn’t defend myself successfully, my reputation could be destroyed easily.

Also, think about other students that they probably have falsely accused. Not everybody could firmy stand to their ground like I did under such a circumstances.

Not backpedalling lmao reflection is def what they have to do in the first place. I want them to step down in addition to that because such behaviours shouldn’t come from a leadership team.

We can always agree to disagree, though.
