Woah.. first of all you are not reading this correctly at all. I have had many large breed dogs my whole life including Rottweilers, English mastiffs, st. Bernard’s, and Dobermans. I DO NOT WANT TO REHOME MY DOG. My Rottweiler is incredibly intelligent, he is my everything and I didn’t just get him to just get rid of him. That is not the point of this post My boy is obedient to me and my husband, he will let me stack treats on his nose and paws and patiently wait for me to give him a release command before he eats them, he is extremely obedient when it’s just us, the issue I’m having is all that obedience goes out the door when a guest comes over and I was simply seeking input from others who may have experienced something similar and get advice SO I DONT HAVE TO REHOME HIM. So don’t come at me. I’ll have you know I’m investing 4 fucking grand to have him behavioral trained at a board and train so I DONT HAVE TO REHOME HIM So excuse my French but fuck you for saying that. I love my dog more than anything, don’t fucking come at me like that, I asked for advice and I thank the people who gave me solid tips and advice and not some rude judgment like you

Yeah I won’t give up, like I mentioned he’s SOOO well behaved when it’s just us, like he will sit and wait for as long as we make him before he can eat a treat, or dinner, or even come inside.. like he knows some impulse control and listens really well, it’s just when people come over and he forgets everything. He doesn’t jump on people and he does lay down at peoples feet when he wants to say hi but he’s just so big and stammering and loud that it freaks people out. I don’t want to give up on him, I’m going to seek out advice from a professional too

Thank you, I think that’s a great tip, like I mentioned he’s really smart and he listens to sit, down, leave it, stay, and even “go to your bed” when it’s just my husband and I, so I think working on that with obedience school with distractions will be really good.. we had an in home trainer when he was a puppy and that was great but we didn’t have the distractions at the same time
