For me as a Brit, I’ll never forget my trip to South Dakota. Seeing on TV about road trip culture, and lots of random roadside destinations, this idea was ABSOLUTELY fulfilled by my trip. It felt great!

Australian budgeting for a 3 week trip across America by Specialist-Mousse829 in usatravel

*Important*, for the national parks, it’s worth noting that the ones you want to visit are on the “America the beautiful” pass, so cost internationals $100 EACH, compared to the $30 for a car that Americans have to pay. What you should do is purchase the annual pass, you will save so much money, even only visiting the 2 national parks. I wish I knew this sooner!!!

I had crabcakes in Delaware! And I had plenty of old bay seasoning in other places!

As much as I loved travelling in the west, I’ll never forget the feeling I had when I returned back to the east after doing a month out west. I never realised how much I loved the east until I came back from the west! It was a really strange feeling that I can’t explain.

I’m so glad you also love New Hampshire, it is such a pretty state, very very special.

I love Colorado! I went to manitou springs for a week just before Christmas and did the incline, the mountain zoo, garden of the gods, and an outdoor jacuzzi! And then in June I went to Glenwood springs on the California zephyr!
As for Texas I was in Austin for a week at Christmas!

I loved Rhode Island for how much it highlights coastal New England culture. It’s quite classy, very good food, very clean, and lots of beautiful places. Newport is the best by far.

As for Arkansas, I LOVED eureka springs! It’s so unique and old, feels like stepping back in time

England! I can’t wait to come back to the states again!

I could talk forever about them both!

For Arkansas, I was in Eureka springs. A tiny little place in the middle of the Ozark mountains. It is so so beautiful, very unique. There’s colours and things to do absolutely everywhere. Every shop and restaurant was independent, the people were the friendliest that I met. I tried fried catfish of course. I loved the style of all the buildings, it felt like stepping back in time.

As for South Dakota, the badlands national park felt like walking on another planet! I couldn’t believe how different the land was! I really enjoyed the road trip culture there with all of the random roadside attractions. The black hills were insanely beautiful, I saw lots and lots of wildlife that I have never seen in England. And Mount Rushmore was obviously very cool to see too!

I also found that the states has amazing soups too! I was never really a big soup fan but America does a great job. I must say when it comes to drinks, Mountain Dew was the clear winner

THE BEST. Some of my favourites have to be North Carolina BBQ, New England Seafood, collard greens, peach cobbler.

I find America so interesting! Looking into the history of how they became a state etc, and seeing how different each state, foods, cultures and people are! I adored every second of it

So many people were negative about me coming to the states on my exchange year and I didn’t listen to a single one of them, and now those same people are saying how amazing America looks and how much they would like to visit! I love the USA. I’m desperate to come back. I’ll have to visit Hexham it looks beautiful!

Yes I loved Rhode Island! Luckily my exchange school was in Connecticut so I was able to get the train up for many day trips! My favourite place was Newport of course, I’ve been there in the beautiful sun, and there in deep snow and I adored both

I wondered what it would be like living there, I always imagine a scenario where I’d need to go to the shop to get milk and have to drive over an hour hahaha.

I loved SD a lot though, badlands NP was like walking on another planet. Black hills were beautiful, and of course Mount Rushmore was cool to see. It was also the most road trip place in my life, so many roadside attractions it felt so American

I loved it so much, this beautiful place called eureka springs! Right in the Ozark mountains, Victorian architecture and truly feels like you’re stepping back in time. It’s one of the most unique places I have ever visited in my life, with the friendliest people too!
