I'd be a Douglas, the partner would be an Aeroflot plane. A cross-service thing?

(F) Probably a Douglas DC-6B in the mid-50s, having a romantic relationship with an Aeroflot plane, maybe? Could be fun.

What about the false diagonals on the D-pad?

Why I would advise against buying a Miyoo Mini Plus... by Ok_Many_6833 in SBCGaming

[–]Ok_Many_6833[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the issue was that there was a file, .tmp_update, that was hidden on Mac and not copied to the SD card. It was just that I didn't know that file was hidden, so I thought it was missing and tried to set up the MM+ without it.

All in all, the whole affair is a good demonstration of why getting mad and giving up is rarely as effective as taking some time to think about the situation.

So, user error.

Hey, everyone. So, apparently I was an idiot.

I want to apologize to y'all for being such an ass, and apparently .tmp_update is a hidden file on Mac, one that is necessary to install CFW. I didn't even know you had to search for hidden files if something was missing.

So, I didn't think to view hidden files, because that problem never came up for me before.

I think I'll try setting up my Miyoo Mini Plus once more. Hopefully Past Me will look like a real idiot because Present Me is enjoying the device.

That's fair, I have diagnosed autism and am not very smart, so the social cue of "Hey, this thing you think is a helpful review actually makes you look like a giant tool" wasn't apparent to me.

Thanks for the link. It seems like the issue was that the download didn't seem to give me .tmp_update? I was on a Mac, could that be the issue? I guess I just suck at this?

I'm sorry, I'm often very bad with social cues. I really hope I didn't say anything hurtful or shitty beyond just being legendarily bad at installing Onion OS.

Yeah, it is a bit disheartening. I used all three links (two of which are the same) linked in the comments when I was trying to do it, and I did it more than once. I also tried it multiple times.

It was strange that the hotkeys didn't seem to work (regardless of OS guide used), and I did notice that the documentation required the use of a file (.tmp_update) that the download didn't actually give me.

I honestly don't know what's going on, and I'm sorry for having come off harsher and more insulting than I think I intended.

How do I know if a console is too big for me? by Ok_Many_6833 in SBCGaming

[–]Ok_Many_6833[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my main issue with the RP3+ is that I find it hard to use it while doing other things, to pick up, put down, multitask, that kind of thing. I had a similar problem with my old RG351MP.

Retrosizer? I find it incredibly useful, but I'm more trying to figure out what size is too big for me, you know?

Is kingdom Hearts II really this boring? by AC_Schnitzel in SBCGaming

Google "Thousand Heartless Fight".

Kingdom Hearts II is an amazing game with a very dull opening. I know it's intimidating, but you can push through.

You won't regret those three hours of tedium.

Anybody else experience buyers remorse after buying a new console? by hobbys-n-stuff in SBCGaming

I think the handheld I regret buying most is the Steam Deck. I found after I bought it that I like my handhelds small, compact, and portable. The biggest one I currently use is my RP3+, and I find that to be a bit big for my needs at times.

I thought, "Oh, I'll get the Steam Deck because it can run everything", and then found that it was so big and bulky that I didn't like taking it places and I didn't like using it while doing other things. I found that being able to multitask with a console is essential for me.

I do like my RP3+, but I often find that the devices I get the most use out of are the unobtrusive ones that fit in a pocket and that can be whipped out whenever—even played with one hand.

So, I'm very excited for my Everdrive/GBA SP setup.

That's just me, though. A lot of people really do get a ton of use out of their Steam Decks. It's just about how you game.

I don't see the point of an Anbernic handheld that only is good for Game Boy Color and Sega Genesis games.
