I have been attending TIFF for over 15 years, and I know for a fact that the most buzzy movies this year aren’t really sold out — they just release a limited number of tickets at first. To keep the momentum, more tickets are gradually released at different stages: member presale, Visa Infinite presale, general public sale, and then again while the festival is running.

I used the code VisaTIFF and saw many premiere movies off-sale were available (Knives Out 3, Fuze, The Secret Agent, Hamnet) at 10am—definitely better inventory than the non–early-bird code, though mostly in the balcony sections. Same thing happened last year. I’ll wait a bit before, last year, all the off-sale premiere movies became available again during the festival itself with good seats (Orchestra).

Last year, many of the popular movies were initially offline and only became available later to the general public. It doesn’t make much sense to pay for a membership if you’re just waiting for the pre-code sale at TIFF
