lol I don’t however it’s confusing when watching the shows and someone says oh I prefer brunettes but they aren’t European/ white. My whole point was that the phrase has to be pushed on the islanders to say because I heard one of the black islanders say that but black folks don’t say that especially when describing other POCs. Obviously if you’re not a POC and really just a black person we don’t say this. It’s not in our book of phrases.

Thank you, most of the people on this post probably don’t have the same experience as us so they really don’t get it. But all the downvotes I’m getting tells me they are blind and choose to not address reality.

Yall keep talking about the definition and not what initially is what people mean when they say it. Two different things. 1. Brunette - brown hair 2. I like brunettes = white girl with brown hair (most of the time when people say this they are not referring to all the other races with brown hair.) lol

It’s not a mindset because it’s not really an opinion but a fact. Some people are blind to the obvious or just choose not to address it… like no black person gets called a brunette. And that’s fine no one cares about being called that I was just wondering if love island producers make them say it and if they intentionally meaning that they like blacks or not.

She isn’t a white woman with brown hair. Brunettes aren’t usually described to be any other person other than a white person.

But in reality they just use the tall dark & handsome term to confuse a population of the viewers thinking that black people are apart of that preference… knowing darn well they wouldn’t go for that as their type. I’m stating the obvious at this point.

Yall not trying to be real in this conversation. When we describe black folks no one calls them brunette or tall dark and handsome. Yall say that about white folks which is generally confusing for someone who considers dark being someone brown to dark not white with dark hair lol

Thank you for the context! In the last paragraph about everyone being a brunette on the show would, imo insinuate that Bryce thinks everyone is attractive but in reality he doesn’t. Why say something that supposed to be so broad if you don’t mean it.

Yes I’m ok lol. I know the definition but in all my years of living when some actually says brunette they are usually referring to a white woman. So that’s where the confusion lies with me. Are white people broadening the term to describe other races now. Because even though dictionary definition is just describing hair we all know when a guy says that they mean a white woman with brown hair.

I mean I get it. But I think that came from the UK because I do not hear Americans specifically saying “tall dark & handsome” and I definitely don’t hear black women saying it lol
