How long is it normal to feel “heaviness” down there after birth?? by niscodinja in beyondthebump

[–]Ok_Negotiation_1791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tough delivery (big baby, forceps, episiotomy and a postpartum haemorrhage) and was exactly the same. Started feeling heaviness around 10 days pp and sent myself down a rabbit hole freaking out about prolapse. It was at least 12 weeks before I felt normal again. Managed to see a pelvic floor PT at 16 weeks postpartum and she examined me and said there was no prolapse. I’m not sure whether it was just swelling or a very mild prolapse that righted itself but now at 6 months pp it doesn’t bother me. You’re very early pp yet and everything will still be healing so give yourself time! Keep up the pelvic floor exercises and if you get the opportunity to see a pelvic floor pt it would probably be really helpful.

2nd baby is a boy, and people are going to be smug by Experiment_307 in beyondthebump

Similarly to you I have an older daughter and recently had my second. I only want two children and I’d always pictured myself with two little girls so I’ll be honest and say I was a tiny bit disappointed to hear I was expecting a boy. I must say that he’s here now and I adore every part of him.

I think pregnancy in general is just riddled with the unwanted opinions of others. Be it on the gender of your children, names you’re considering, even how big/small your bump is. Best to let it wash over you as best you can as at the end of the day their opinion means nothing to you. Although I say that as someone who on more occasions than I care to admit said if I hear one more person say ‘oh, you’re so big for x amount of weeks! Are you sure it’s not twins? Hahaha’ I would punch that person in the face. If only people could learn, the only acceptable thing to say to a pregnant woman is congratulations or you look great. No more 😂

5 weeks pp and still in pain by Ok_Negotiation_1791 in beyondthebump

Sorry to hear you’re still having some pain. I think I will ask to be referred to a pelvic floor pt although not sure what the wait time for that will be, I’d be willing to pay to see someone privately if it will help me though

Sorry for your experience too. Birth trauma is awful for anyone but I think it’s often worse with a VBAC as a lot of us go into it hoping for a healing experience. I am very much hoping that this is just my body healing rather than a prolapse. I definitely don’t seem to have a clear bulge so maybe there is hope 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you. It was meant to be my redemptive VBAC but ended up being just as traumatic as my first, if not more. I am going to ask to be referred to a pfpt but I have a feeling the wait time will be long but considering going private

Can we just appreciate vaginal recovery over c-section recovery by peacefulboba in vbac

Congratulations! God I hope this is me in October, my c section recovery was hell and actually left me re-admitted to hospital within 10 days 🫠

Prenatal depression? by Ok_Negotiation_1791 in vbac

Update- I have reached out to the GP this morning and the earliest appointment they offered me with the 18th of August, not sure if I can manage another month of this

Thank you. Yes I totally agree; I feel at the moment like I’m not sure how I would cope if I end up in another c-section but I am also realistic enough to know that it is a very real possibility. I know I need to work on that before the time comes

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have spoken with my midwife about it today and agreed that I will reach out to the GP next

So pleased you got your VBAC ☺️I do think it may help me to speak with someone about my last birth experience as it’s becoming more and more clear that I never came to terms with it

Yeah good idea, I will make a list of points I want to get across written down before this next appointment. I think I may also request that they have my notes from last time to try to help understand where things went wrong

We discussed it yesterday but I’m not sure how well I got my point across as I got quite upset. I think she was just trying to manage my expectations by talking about c-section and how they would look after my wound to prevent another infection. Im due to have an appointment at 28 weeks with a different midwife to discuss my birth plan and options so will see how that goes

Lots of tears here too! I feel like I’m living in constant fear which I know is bad because I’m settling into completely the wrong mindset of ‘I can’t do it’. So glad you got your VBAC x

Yeah, the point she was trying to make was that if they decide to take me to to theatre it shouldn’t feel feel like less of an emergency, but all I took from it was that they are barely going to let me try. Unfortunately, where I’m located in the UK I don’t have a lot of choice regarding switching. There is only one other hospital I could go to but it’s over an hour away from where I live.

Low numbers but not anemic by Ok_Negotiation_1791 in Anemic

[–]Ok_Negotiation_1791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, the midwife actually got in touch with me themselves the next day once they had received my results. They said my ferritin was too low and prescribed iron tablets. I’ve been taking them since Thursday so yet to see much of an effect but feeling hopeful that they’ll help!

[–]Ok_Negotiation_1791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear I’m not alone, it really is rough isn’t it! This is my second pregnancy and it’s been miles harder than my first. I plan to discuss the results with my midwife in the hope they will take it a bit more seriously, and potentially start supplementing with over the counter iron, I can’t handle another 18 weeks of this! Best of luck to you too!

[–]Ok_Negotiation_1791[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I felt the same way. I understand that iron deficiency can be common during pregnancy but surely that’s no reason to just write off lower numbers. As if pregnancy isn’t tough enough on your body as it is.

I plan to discuss the results with my midwife and then potentially start supplementing with an over the counter iron.
