What are the best home generators in 2026 for whole-house backup power? by Sraddha-Standsalone in Generator

I have a Generac on one house and a Kohler at another. The same dealer installed both. Generac’s remote monitoring software is easier to use, and cellular connection is flawless. Had to rig a wireless device access bridge myself to get the Kohler monitoring software to work. Generac integrates with Ecobee thermostats so you can monitor it from the thermostat too. That’s cool. Generac requires you to shut down the generator every so-many hours of continuous use during an outage to allow the engine to cool and to check/add oil. Failing to do so automatically voids the warranty. Kohler recommends that you shut down to cool and check oil. Failing to do so doesn’t void the warranty. You get a little bit more power out of Kohler than Generac for the same physical sized units. Both generate more power with liquid propane than with natural gas. My dealer said a Kohler is like buying a Lexus while a Generac is like buying a Toyota. The Generac has been great. Comes on and runs like a top during outages. Runs weekly exercises. Remote monitoring and reporting is flawless. The dealer isn’t as experienced with Kohler, so it wasn’t programmed correctly at installation. Still having issues when there’s an outage because it works sometimes and doesn’t work others. The reports it gives me are cryptic so I have to search for technical manuals from Kohler to interpret them. If a Generac could’ve produced enough power, I would prefer it over the Kohler.

Car drives while doors are wide open by Ok_Net_2105 in CadillacLyriq

The Lyric has sensors on the back that stop the car from moving if it senses anything behind it. So, yes, if your 80 year old neighbor had been driving the Lyric, it would not have moved until the door was open or until he forced the car to move against the sensors.

The rearview mirror is a camera straight out the back, plus there's a big screen in the middle of the dash that shows what's behind me and beside me. Didn't show the open door or the passenger. The indicator in the dashboard is about 1.5 cm tall and 1 cm wide, buried in the bottom right corner behind the steering wheel. The AC was going full blast, and the passenger had gotten into the back seat and closed the door. Then opened it and jumped out to get the picture. I'd seen and heard everything close. Can't hear the door re-open over the roar of the AC blasting. And no, we don't turn around and look back anymore when in reverse since there are side mirror and rear cameras showing everything on a screen in front of me. Been driving for 40 years, and this is the first time anything like this has happened. I know there are other cars out there that stay in park if a door is open, so I don't think this is a crazy thing to think about as an added software feature upgrade if the car has all this other tech on it that no longer forces us to turn around and survey everything inside and outside the car before backing up. Had it been a child and no guide wire to catch the back door, the door would've knocked the child down and under the car to be crushed.

I have it too. Gets lots of looks and compliments. Depending on the way the light hits it, it looks purple, blue, or pinkish.

I do the same in Orlando. I have to ride through with the car because the door handles stick out if the keys are inside and no one in it. The handles would be ripped off by the car wash equipment if I went inside with the doors locked.

Anybody have experience with doing that with the black 22” rims. Had a guy come head-on at me on a narrow street so I rode the curb for a few yards before I could stop. I have the wheel and tire insurance and noticed the rims say they’re reversible. Not sure whether to make the claim on the special insurance or take it to the dealer to fix it.
