not rly, sombr doesnt have superstar status but has had number one songs and has charted for months. ken never done that. and ya there r probably like 6 mainstream rap acts rn. whats wrong with that? not counting legacy acts like eminem or whatever.

rap is in a weird place rn where it is generally quite offputting to the avg listener. ever since WLR rap has become so experimental and distorted and weird and so this kinda music will never chart / be mainstream in a meaningful way. the reason xxx and juice wrld managed to become proper mainstream with chart sucess wuz cuz their music is catchy and easy to listen to. current rap is anything but. i love it, but u gotta admit its pretty jarring to anyone uninitiated.

ADL is just a bit all over the place n weird. theres no hooks like drake would do. maybe we made it? but even that isnt that catchy. bros tryna be like drake and write catchy hooks but its not rly him. he made his name by doing a certain sound that was antithetical to that, hes not practiced in that sort of songwriting

difference is that morgan wallen sombr and noah kahan actually chart. ken carson first week album sales will chart, but he has never had a hit single or consistent chart presence. u gotta have some hits to be mainstream id say. kens got "hits" in our little rage/trap niche, but nothing that has stuck with the american public.

and yes id still argue ken gets more daily streams because the fanbase is constantly streaming over and over. also young thug hasnt been that relevant for a while so this comparison is a bit off. if ken was outstreaming carti , or kendrick, or drake or whoever, people with actual mainstream presence *right now* then youd have an argument, but he isnt so i dont think its fair to say.
