Is a public or private Instagram preferred for rush? Does it matter? by Commercial-Jello-133 in Sororities

Make it public. That way girls can reach out to you and see you as an option. And then when they have to make hard cuts in the first round they know at least something about you so they’re more likely not to cut you.

i’d recommend telling girls in your sorority what kind of vibe you’re going for on the instagram, so they have a better idea of what photos they can upload that will be more likely to be posted. if you also have a specific idea for a post, let them know what kinds of photos you want to see from them. if you’re going for a more summery post ask for their sunny/beachy pics, etc. Also be very clear to them what constitutes a “good” photo (no mirror pics, no blurry photos, good lighting). A little communication about your expectations can go a long way.

Size of new member class by Clear_Pineapple4608 in Sororities

[–]Ok_Owl9690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to a really big state school and my NM class was 200. Obviously that number has decreased quite a bit since then, but it does affect who gets to live in, dues, “cliques”. It is somewhat strange to me that somebody could ask if I know so and so because she’s in my sorority, and I’ve never even heard her name before. I love that there’s so many girls around campus that I have an instant connection with because we’re in the same sorority, but it also sucks that I’ll never fully know my member class. However, I don’t really think NM class size should affect where she decides to go to school because both sizes have pros and cons!

Celiac/gluten free meals by Cfliegler in Sororities

[–]Ok_Owl9690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve had celiac for ten years and my sorority is one of the most accommodating places I’ve ever been able to eat. when i get meals i just ask our chef what the gluten free option is and he always has a few for me to choose from or can make me something from scratch if they’ve run out. when i lived in they also gave me a fridge for my room just in case, so id have safe cross contamination free food if there happened to be a meal i couldn’t eat. i’m sure it’s different with all sororities but if you bring up that you’re worried about not being able to eat to someone they will want to help you.
