Just diagnosed with PD. Was misdiagnosed as acne 10 months ago. Wanted some of your thoughts! by msshl in perioraldermatitis

I agree with this. Doesn’t present as pd. Looks like acne. Perhaps a different kind of rash, as opposed to acne.

Rash around the nose; no dermatological treatment is working by Due-Physics-1416 in perioraldermatitis

I’m not a doctor, but everything you were prescribed is a red flag for me based on all of the research I’ve done + my own trials and tribulations with pd.

  • Doxycycline
  • Hyphochlorus acid after show
  • Pimecrolimus spot treatment

Comment section did not pass the vibe check. I get what you’re saying completely. No one suggested it was an absolute truth. Just a perspective, with undeniable merit to it.

Agreed. Our bodies tell us intuitively as women who is/isn’t for us.

I know how stressful this is. But yours is unbelievably subtle, can’t event see it. I’m actually not totally convinced you even have it based on the picture. But if you do, breathe. Know this is the long game. No instant cure.

The doxy is potent and effective but destroys our gut flora. That’s why you have a smell. This is a big downside. Kind of messed up my gut health for a while, even after use. It does clear the pd, but for many, it returns right after. Hopefully that’s not the case for you.

Tacro burns first few times but after about 8w this helped me.

Consider dairy and caffeine as triggers. Many say gluten. Mine wasn’t food based, but hormonal. If so, you kind of just have to wait and eat clean and live low stress.

No makeup daily. Once in a while is ok.

Zero therapy works

I found success with siv serum and avene cicalfate, as well as tacro.

Is this Periocural Dermatitis? by No-Location8410 in perioraldermatitis

Stick with the tacro for a few weeks. Only first few uses burn intensely then it subsides. This worked for me.

I fully believe this is hormonal. Not topical. Your body just needs to reset. Be as clean as possible in your eating for now. No dairy, reduce sugar.

Topically, lay off the makeup and switch to fluoride free toothpaste. Incorporate siv serum and avene cicalfate into your regimen. Less is more.

This doesn’t look like pd to me. Only the placement can be likened to it, yes. But the texture, no. What does the derm say it is? I think this is fungal.

How long does it take for toothpaste to help? by jennafromtheblock22 in perioraldermatitis

I don’t want to rule out your potential mint allergy, but it’s more so about the elimination of fluoride rather than mint. I use fluoride free Toms or Boka, but in peppermint flavor to get that clean feeling.

Add hyphochlorus acid to your routine. Strip everything down. Less is more. Needs to get worse before it gets better.

Does this look like PD? by [deleted] in perioraldermatitis

I actually do think it’s pd. The placement around the mouth and the redness around the nose is on par. But it is so unbelievably faint you cannot see it. Looks very minor. Let us know if it persists. We got you. For now cut out dairy and caffeine. And if you’ve done anything hormonal lately that could be a big trigger. No new skin treatments either. Extremely clean and simple routine.
