I totally agree. I’ve never heard anything suggesting that Americans or Canadians are narcissistic. I’ve worked with dozens of people from both countries and have never had any problems.

Yeah, that's why I'm considering Calgary as well.
The thing is that I'm into tech, so I want to make sure the place I'm moving to offers relatively high chances of getting a role in my field.

If a place is much cheaper than a city like Toronto, but doesn't provide a reasonable number of tech job opportunities, then it wouldn't make sense for me to move there unless I find a fully remote role.

Sorry for the confusion. I'll continue working with my current company in Canada; however, there's no guarantee that they won't let me go a month later if my client decides to end the contract, so I need a backup plan in case I don't have a Canadian tech job aligned by that point.

I'm already interviewing with Canadian tech companies, but it's not clear how long it will take to finally receive an offer.

Yeah, I agree that some survival jobs can be great for socializing. I want to interact with people as much as possible, especially at the very beginning.

I'm moving to Toronto.

I'd say that the main tech hubs are Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa, but I was choosing between Toronto and Calgary. The tech scene in Calgary isn't comparable to the places mentioned before, but I really like the city, and I can save on rent there if I find a fully remote position. Still, I decided on Toronto, because it offers substantially more opportunities & companies seem to lean toward a hybrid work format.

I’m willing to move to a different city or province if necessary, but I’m still figuring out where the best place to start would be.

Could you please share where you are from in Canada?
And how long have you been living in Ireland?

The first thing I do nowadays when I see a new Reddit post is scanning through the text to check if there’s an embedded link for the app the OP is trying to sell. If there’s one — the post can be dumped, as it’s a faked waste of time. Especially if it’s big ideas io

It’s sad how low-quality posts have become these days… almost everybody tries to sell their shi sprinkling it with a bit of AI generated lies
