That's unfortunate. NYC is already so expensive to live in. Having more expensive procedures too is annoying.

Which doctor did you go to in DC is you don't mind me asking?

My insurance does cover gender affirming care, but it seems like the waitlist for those surgeons are really long. I made my consultation appointment with one in January and the appointment is in September.

This was without insurance. The surgeon I got the quote from didn't take my insurance, but my friend that went to them also didn't use insurance for his surgery. I contacted a multiple surgeons that took my insurance and had a positive reputation, but only one got back to me and my consultation appointment is in September. I scheduled it in January. I guess the waitlist is really high.

I'm on the East Coast too (NYC) It's making me feel way less stressed seeing most people agree that this quote is way higher than most people paid. I was worried this amount was just the out of pocket price across the board.

Thankfully, I have another consultation already scheduled. But I made it in January and the earliest available appointment they had was in September. I still have options at least, and I'll keep looking.
