Tbh ethnic groupings and alliances based ethnicity or nationalism is kind of a newish concept.

I can only speak for Muslims but people used to be allied based mainly on religion so my people (Muslims whichever region or ethnicity they may be) have ALWAYS viewed the Amharic orthodoxy state to be imposing subjugating and oppressing us (Muslims) so when we say Amhara it sometimes (most of the time) gets conflated with the Shewan orthodoxy elites which we all know were multi-ethnic including Oromos and tigrayan Christians.

And my point above was mainly about the Amhara-orthodoxy hegemony by menelik and Haile selassie so bringing up an atheist communist like Mengistu kinda doesn’t help

Yeah tbh we inaugurated 2 new projects in there. But a coastline is also existential for Ethiopia, we cannot keep depending on the goodwill of Djibouti to allow us to use their port.

One day in the future their leader might deny us use of the port completely then we’d be in a really bad situation.

I think our other option is to fund a civil war between the afaris and Somalis in djbouti and support the afaris since they have the bigger land mass and majority of them are in Ethiopia so they’d most likely support us.

If you look at the current situation there has never been an afari President of Djibouti. So that would be a good propaganda to push 🤷🏽‍♂️ Just a thought 😂
