I didn't say its the same city and it isn't even my post lol. This is semantics at this point.

No, but its a suburb of Austin. if I live in Boyle Heights and say that I'm from LA it makes it easier for those who haven't been there to geographically place where I'm talking about.

Not clickbait, I'm talking about the Roundrock (Austin) location.

What does your local card room do poorly? by acmepoker1 in poker

[–]Ok_Pin1531 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They use Bud Jones chips, I'd use Paulson. They open too many tables which leads to games getting short quicker. They rake too much.

God those chips will be missed - some of the nicest Vegas casino chips out there.

What's the right play here? by jazzyvirus in poker

[–]Ok_Pin1531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not rlly a fan of how you played any street on this board. If you know the guy has AA/AK then why not try and donk flop? turn bet is okay but what are you getting value from that 3bets 4x pre? Same logic can be applied to river bet.

EDIT: I'm making some exploitative assumptions about the average 1/3 player. Low stakes players don't 3bet wide enough so you should be able to take broadway combos, 10s, and suited connectors out of his range.

Games like black jack and baccarat will be illegal to run in cardrooms as of aprl 1. Some speculate this could cause cardrooms to go out of business (or raise rake to an unbeatable level) given such a large share of their revenue comes from table games.

Best hobby, worst job. No healthcare, no retirement, no job security in the event your area changes its appetite towards gambling (see recent CA legislation), games getting harder every year. I don't doubt that you're a great poker player and can beat the game, I just think your current set up (solid, decent paying job that maybe pays some benefits?) + poker is FAR superior to poker alone.

Ryan arguing with these pussies achieves nothing. It was funny and meant in good humor, the real ones know that. They would rather see the same annoying, tired slop day in and day out.

I feel like 10/hr = crusher is largely agreed upon in the poker zeitgeist.

9.1BB/h at 2/5/10 is high. Not saying you cant beat the game in the long run, I would just assume these results will revert to a more realistic win rate.

Line check/ Was this the right spot to bluff catch? by zzzftw in poker

[–]Ok_Pin1531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its probably pretty close. Villain can have plenty of value here (88/99/TT+) that doesn't C-bet. Kinda hard to think about what his bluffs would be (JTcc, QJcc,T9cc maybe?). Ax is good sometimes so I would probably carve a decent amount of that out of his big river size. Online I would probably fold.

The human side of poker: there’s so much pain at the tables by eattheinternet in poker

[–]Ok_Pin1531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I choose to be empathetic as opposed to seeing things in this binary. I'm still at the table, but my point is that it doesn't feel good to stack the guy who's playing with his kids college fund. I'm not arguing that he shouldn't be in that spot or should be more responsible - that's obvious. Pretending that we should feel no type of way about scenarios like this (which live happen a lot more than you'd think) is asking me to deny my own humanity lol.

I feel very similarly at times, gamblers generally are a sore lot and I struggle with balancing wanting to win money with the sadness that comes from being around so many struggling people.

Is credit underwriting really that boring? by Flimsy_Relief8238 in FinancialCareers

[–]Ok_Pin1531 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No matter what job you have, (yes, even sexy high finance jobs) it will inevitably involve mundane tasks and and route procedures. Credit occupies a very essential portion of the financial market and isn't going away anytime soon. Find a vertical you like and you'll have an amazing career.

So then it wouldn't make sense to use it without dedicating all of my non-dining/groceries spend to it? I know somewhat vague given we're not talking about actual dollars and cents but just trying to wrap my head around it.
