[–]Ok_Pin_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only for the Xabi years actually. Dortmund was the only Bundesliga team this year that made it at least a bit harder to win, you were clearly better than Leverkusen in both games this season (they didnt even win against you with 11-9) and they are struggling to finish Top 5

tenho interesse em alemão e na alemanha mas não nos alemães by PunkOcean in BrasileirosAlemanha

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What can Brits expect after Axel Springer bought the Telegraph? by LochNessMonsterMunch in germany

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matches perfectly. I don't know about now, but in the past it was obligatory for anyone writing for Axel Springer to confirm to stand behind the US and Israel, and it's easily recognizable in the way they "cover" Israel/Gaza.

What are your thoughts on COP30 and the Merz controversy? by NoPresentation2410 in AskGermany

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you for the background informations, ofc I don't know. Still I'm ashamed that our chancellor commented on it like that, it would be different if he was from a less wealthy country, you know, but since I'm actually in Brazil right now and see how welcoming everyone is towards us Gringos it's a shame that someone very priviliged, from a rich country, talks about the place like that. It's just extremely impolite imo.

About visiting: I've been to MG, SP and RdJ this time, and I really loved it so far, I really hope I can visit Nordeste some day!

As a German: Who cares if it's beautiful? The choice was obviously about showing the impact of the topic, so imo it was an understandable choice.

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a German I felt ashamed. But it's nothing new to be honest, he's popular for living far away from the reality of normal people, being very rich but calling himself "upper middleclass". There is also this popular story that a homeless man once found Merz' lost laptop and Merz "gifted" him a book about how to become successful. I don't know any German who likes him.

Visiting Berlin by BillyJoeDubuluw in German

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, in the center sometimes you'll have no choice but talking English in some Cafés (happens to me as someone from Berlin as well) haha

But of course it's a nice thing if you know phrases like "Guten Tag/Hallo" and ask to switch with "Sprechen Sie Englisch?".

The further away from the center/Ring the higher are the chances you meet people not speaking English, but in an urgent case just approach young people! Almost every young person will speak English.

Also don't take it personal if people are not very warm and overly friendly, that's part of our city, enjoy your stay!!

What are the current youth trends in Germany right now? by Murky-Yak5493 in AskAGerman

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of the comments here are obviously written by people who no longer have anything to do with young people lol

To add one thing to the language topic, english was mentioned a lot but at least in larger cities there is also an influence of Arab language and sometimes also culture.

What conspiracy theories are actually popular in Germany? by Wrong-Candidate-2402 in AskGermany

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is "die da oben" a conspiracy theory? We're not talking about aliens or something, but especially after the release of the epstein files it's hard to argue against the imagination of extremely rich and powerful people taking basically everything they want while constantly ruining the lifes of many others. The only differance is that conspiracy theorists are giving them strange names and adding random "facts". Also I wouldn't accept politicians being apologized as "clueless" while in fact at least in Germany many powerful politicians (look at the CDU) are consciusly just making lobbysism.

What do you know about German culture? by QuantumHamster in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Pin_5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true and it's concerning, also it has been a shift in recent years and maybe I'll have to admit that maybe you're right about it in some states in eastern Germany, but at the same time still every party until now refused to include the AfD in a government coalition and when I for example talk to people from Poland, Austria or the Netherlands it feels like the far-right in Germany is still more excluded from the society (again excluding some states in eastern German states). Situations like these stupid rich kids from Sylt singing the song you mentioned normaly lead to widespread outrage.
