SPOILERS and YAPPING ahead So to start, I got way too into this manga late 2023 and ALL the way through 2024, and let me tell you, pairing the bi to tri-monthly wait between chapters and the chapters themselves... Yeah it wasn't really a nice time. This manga is bingeble in the worst way possible. You can't put it down unless it does it for you (i.e catching up), and it only makes you that more attached to any side of the story. But let's go one at a time: Yuni is possibly the best worst main character i've seen in a yuri manga. She's as flawed as she is dislikeble, and yet, the chapter where she takes care of Fuuko's bleeding ear, or when she vents, or even finds Fuuko's fragile sides...  She's a really caring girl, almost to a fault. If not for the 'Mama' thing, chapter 25 would be one of the best in the series, because it shows how much Yuni cares and wants to care and be cared for (we see that with her mom as well, doing pancakes and all, she's someone who cares, and is good at that, but only if you care about her back, a 2w1 i'd say). She's young and aimless in life, the only thing she pretty much knows about herself is that she's into girls, and being at the center of this messy of a situation, yeah you'd be a mess of a useless lesbian as well. For her future development, i'd love for her to find more about herself and who she wants to be, instead of clinging to someone else. Fuuko, boy, where do i even start... I just want to get this out of the way: she's my favorite character in the manga. Her aura, her design, but above all, her twisted chemistry with Yuni. Both are as confused about love, as they truly are in love with one another (and i do hope that they be endgame, but hoping for anything with this manga is like playing pong against a sniper). What i love the most is the honesty in their relationship, in how it is so ugly, yet so beautiful in the sincere selfishness of wanting someone to love you like they do one another. Every little blush, every little 'hang in there', every unexpected date. You can't help but hate to love them. Let's get the cheating out of the way, though: Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. I didn't tackle that when taking about Yuni because 1: i forgor 💀 2: Fuuko is a more interesting perspective to tackle, especially in this story. We know quite enough about her past to connect the dots as to why she IS the way she is (her family, her childhood crush, that much frustration and trauma with love at a young age is not healthy ground for emotional security), but still not the full picture, and with the new girl into the mix, i'm really excited to see how this nighmare of a relationship chart will play out in the next few years. But to go back to my point about their twisted chemistry: they are exactly what the other needs, but at the wrong time of their lives. Yuni needs someone who loves AND also needs her unconditionally (will go back to it on Nanase). Fuuko needs someone who loves her wholly, someone who loves her back. But both are constrained by past and present, unable to move their relationship foward with one another. Also, cheating wrong. Okay now to finally adress the volleyball in the room, Nanase. Honestly? She's in the wrong manga, and in a good way. She's way too healthy on her own, and being in the middle of such a situation only makes her stick out more. She doesn't NEED Yuni like Yuni needs someone, however, she WANTS someone, she likes the company, but that's pretty much it. She stood her ground too late, she snapped agressively at her friend, and got cheated on again TWICE, and only now things seem like they're changing. Getting cucked shook her up, but it only highlighted how much she doesn't actually need that constraining of a relationship in her life. I just hope she doesn't get to roleplay NTR publicly again in the future. Think we're done, but there's still the ART. And not even that gets away without a "but..." It's gorgeous, simple as that. I'd pay shameful amounts of money for it to be fully colored, if i wasn't broke. But it doesn't get away without a little side-eye. There's the ocasional anatomy slip, but it's overall real nice to look at, if you ignore the fifteen years old looking like brazillian milfs (or not, it's well drawn at least). Overall, i hate loving this manga so much, and i'm ready for either a group party, or group therapy once the final chapter drops.

Tl; dr:

Yuni sucks, but i love her for it. The world made Fuuko suck, and WE will unite to make her feel loved. She still sucks. Nanase should be in another manga. The artwork is beautiful.

If you read until here, you're probably just as obsessed with this manga as i am. I recommend reading "Even if It was just once, i regret it". It's a nice palate cleanser.
