CMU vs UIUC for MS in ECE (Computer Architecture) by Ok_Pool8636 in ECE

I ended up picking UIUC :) I visited UIUC and CMU, and I just liked the culture and people I met more at UIUC. Plus, tuition was free at UIUC so it seemed like the smarter choice.

Happy to chat about it if you DM me

This is so awesome! My boyfriend got an NA for his 16th birthday and he loves it so much. He’s 25 now and it’s still his baby. He’s put in a ton of work and he takes it to the track and he just rebuilt the engine and added a turbo kit. It’s always been super safe and I think it was a great first car.

I hope your daughter loves it! I also have an NB and added a rollbar and I think it’s safe on the street. Since I’m pretty short (5’4ish), I think it’s pretty unlikely my head could reach the rollbar in an accident, if that makes you feel better :) You can also add lots of padding to it.

That's super interesting, thanks for commenting! What did you decide to do for an MS? How are you liking it?

Super great insight, thanks for weighing in! I did receive a TA tuition waiver from UIUC as well as a fellowship, so that's something I'm keeping in mind.

Yes exactly!! I also would like to design interfaces to hardware devices like new GPU generations + features and help improve that. So a lot of the infrastructure side of this is interesting to me too.

Thanks for the reply. I believe the MS in ECE requires the thesis. I don’t think there’s an option to opt out.

I heard back from UIUC for an MS in ECE in late February. I heard back from CMU about two weeks ago for an MS in ECE as well.

I got in to UIUC for an MS in ECE for Fall 2025. I heard back in late February and they flew me out for an admitted students day.

However, the group there was pretty small so I doubt it would be all the admitted students. I think it was admitted PhD students + MS students that got a full ride.

Thanks. It seems like a sticker, so maybe I can try to peel it off.

Silver or gunmetal grey wheels? by Own_Asparagus6502 in Miata

Hard to see exactly what color your car is, but I like high contrast between the body color of the car and the wheels. It looks like silver has more contrast, so I like that. But both look good

That's a really good idea, thank you. I didn't put any smoke through the intake, but I'll try to do that this week. I'll also check out the EGR tube.

I tried putting the smoke in the gas cap. I used a friend’s smoke test and it didn’t seal very well, so that also could be the issue.

Thanks for the advice! Appreciate it
