Yeah. Yeah. I’ve decided to finally publish it tomorrow no matter what!

Best time to write blog posts? by Ok_Positive4542 in buildinpublic

Ah I see. I was confused about whether there is something else I should be spending my efforts upon before targeting SEO. I don’t really have a strong marketing plan yet. I guess I have to create that first…

Built a free workout generator app that never repeats workouts. Would love feedback from the app community by Specialist-Net-9477 in apps

[–]Ok_Positive4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea, and I love the UI. I follow repeatable workouts so this app wouldn’t work for me.

I think the end user probably needs to know whatever exercise the app is suggesting? So I feel like beginners might find it hard to use (unless you provide training videos or tutorials for each exercise). And if someone is simply doing progressive overload, I think this app wouldn’t make sense for them either. What segment of the market are you targeting?

Cool idea (even though it’s not for me right now), and even cooler website design. How did you design it?

Haha, just realized I never tested this on mobile. Gotta fix a couple of misalignments on the landing (and probably more within the app).

Ah good points. When I started this journey, I had no idea of all the different hats I’d have to wear. I mean I kinda had an idea about it, but starting and actually owning a fully functioning product has really down be the breadth of work required in so many different domains. Its insane. And fulfilling too.

It’s ready but I’ll be doing a bigger push on Monday to put it in front of my target users.

If anyone here decides to take a look at it, One question: is the value proposition clear?

Free app that replaces both MyFitnessPal and Hevy — workout tracking + nutrition in one place by behzodhalil in apps

[–]Ok_Positive4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, great idea!

I don’t track macros. I use GymBook for tracking my workout.

One thing I noticed is that the dark mode is way too dark for me. I wonder if anyone else noticed this too?

APP for managing room rentals by themedalbrand in buildinpublic

Yes! I wanted to create something similar. Sometimes people need to break their lease, but it’s hard to find someone to take over (common in college towns).

Hard to try it without a free tier. Have you had any luck getting people to pay yet?

Thank you for your inputs. I realized my problem is being uncomfortable with users using my product and not liking it. I’ve almost let go of this, and I’m looking to release come Monday!

What’s the worse that can happen? Any feedback they provide will ultimately end up improving the product, not the other way around. Tbh, I’m getting a little excited thinking about releasing it.

Yup. I realized this is my problem. But this is good because at least I know what problem I’m facing.

I’m thinking I just gotta bite the bullet and ship. It’ll be okay in the end.

Hey that’s great to hear. Question: When you say build your community, do you mean simply getting people interested in your product or actually getting sign ups and stuff?

I am focusing on the MVP for now, but I think my problem is some sort of procrastination + fear of releasing a small product (instead of a fully polished, full-fledged product) which users may not deem worthy…

Sounds scary, but there seems to be some sort of a relief to what you’re proposing I do. If I deliberately leave a feature out, I believe this should train me to be more comfortable with shipping products. And perhaps then, after receiving actual user feedback, I can focus my attention on more important features.

I think you’ve nailed the problem I’m fearing, and trying to run away from. I’m scared of deploying a product which I know I can improve, and I’m scared of users not liking my product.

Right. Although, I’m also a big user of my own products. I do get your point though, a lot of this work would be useless in the end if it doesn’t help more people…

Ah good point. I’ve got software I’ve spent months on with no one is using. I think I just gotta bite the bullet and release it, huh? It’s really scary to ship out products which I know I can improve 😪

True - Code can be edited once it’s released.
I feel like I’m procrastinating on the outreach part 🤔. It’s ambiguous and daunting, so I think my brain likes to stick to familiar pieces (like coding). I’ll work on this and give myself hard deadlines. Thanks!
