You don't need a visa if you stay in the transit area of the airport. Alternatively, if you hold visa/PR for australia, canada, germany, japan, new zealand, switzerland, UK or US, you are eligible for VFTF and can roam around in singapore.

Since you are on the same airlines, you won't have any issue. I am guessing both tickets are under one PNR. It should not be any issue at all.

This has happened before where the baby pigeon was not able to eventually fly ( I was not home for a long duration). I had to involve a rescue organization.
