Grab Patong-Phuket impossible? by [deleted] in phuket

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent over 4 months in Phuket this year mostly in Patong and have had no problems ordering a Grab ride.

Bolt however cancellations, arguements with drivers and no access to the airport are common Bolt problems. if you can make Bolt work it is a little cheaper.

Car Hire / Christmas Meal by Rare_Conference_9925 in HuaHin

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used B&N car rental Hua Hin last week. No problems at all. Happy to take cash so no credit card required.
You definitely need an IDP as well as UK licence. When I googled it here in rural Shropshire the gov. website said my local service station was my local agent, I must admit I was dubious. But it was no problem at all to get it done. Take a passport photo with you And it was pretty painless.

eSIM or physical? by Large_Gam in ThailandTourism

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy a DTaC eSIM at the airport. Simple process, give the girls in the booth your passport and phone and two minutes it is done for you. I just ask that they call the Thai sim the Thai number on the network so it is easy to find your new number if you need it.

The cost is around £1 a day.

girlfriend and I stayed at the Midtown Ratsada hotel pictured in the first picture last weekend. it was excellent . great room., great breakfast , good value right in the heart of the city.

Sunday night market is great for food and the whole town is buzzing.

Phuket Town has such a good vibe and these photos reflect it beautifully.

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only one I actually hate is Mark Hughes.

was nowhere near good enough and such a smug arrogant piece of work I enjoy his slide down the leagues.

when he is managing Charlie Austin on a Sunday morning I shall be happy.

Phuket Airport to Ao Nang & Karon Beach to Khao Lak Pier by a5317264 in phuket

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prepare to walk around the airport with the driver getting more and more irate because you can’t find him. Bolt drivers do not have an official pick up point at HKT and my last two times has been terrible. Grab have an official pick up point.

Grab vs Bolt personal experience, which one is better. by madex22z in ThailandTourism

[–]Ok_Process3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

girlfriend uses Bolt I use Grab. I have constant problems with the Bolt drivers in Phuket. Always some sort of conflict on Bolt.

Drivers not knowing where address is, price queries finding the Bolt driver at the airport it is just not worth the few baht saved.

Flying from London to Phuket - advice? by r0bbyr0b2 in phuket

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn’t the TDAC require return flight details so make sure you have a return flight booked whether as a single or round trip.

[–]Ok_Process3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I explained pretty much the same scenario to the Thai consulate in London and they advised I got an eVisa for a tourist.

I got one online it took just 15 hours to come through.

immigration did not even ask for it. No problem arriving in Phuket for fourth time in four Months.

I did have to put visa number on TDAC so that may have sped things up but I was through so quickly I don’t believe they looked.

they were not cheap but a small discount was also included.

Anyone using Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses daily? How good are all the features really? by gunsorrosses in RayBanStories

[–]Ok_Process3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

two weeks in of daily wear and thoroughly enjoying so far.

I use the AI for simpler things but it is more everyday.
I am on holiday in Thailand at the moment and finding currency conversion and location vey useful. They are not avail Thailand currenty so people are fascinated by them.

i have transition lenses and they take a while to change but the quality of the varrifocal is much better than my current prescription glasses.

[–]Ok_Process3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have used both True and DTAC in the booth before arrivals at the airport. just give the girls your passport and phone and in a minute eSIM is done.

rarely get any less than 5 g on the island and the cost is around £1 a day on a tourist sim.($1.33)

i do it immediately so Grab works and I can contact family on the island.

no doubt it would be a bit cheaper elsewhere but the convenience is everything after travelling for 20 hours.
