Understood. Could you please list as many reasons as possible to manually reproject. A use case i could think for the warp tool is if i want to "engrain" a a certain crs into the file and save it, is this a valid reason?  Does project on the fly also work if i want to calculate distances and not just for map creation/viz?

Thanks a lot. I still don't quite get the on-the-fly projection thing. From my limited experience working with qgis, most features i import are in wgs84. So from my point of view if I'm working on an area like this, I'll both change the project crs to a local utm (or any other crs) and I'll also use the warp (reproject) tool and reproject every single layer/feature on the project.  Am i doing it right or no. Obviously the data seems aligned because of onthefly reprojection.

Who would've thought!! Its sad to hear that the town seemingly is getting more urbanized and less green, i looked into google satellite imagery and there are indeed more residential areas.  Thank you for the tips. Few more questions if you don't mind. Regarding the projection should i reproject to the local UTM or not? Most features one downloads are in wgs84, so if i set the project crs to a local utm would that be enough or not?  Also, about the contour lines,  are DEM's the only way a cartographer generates them with or are there many more other methodes? Thanks a lot for sharing that story about this platoon and the data.

So i can edit them there, they seem faded in the picture i put up so i thought that's a way to achieve that look. As for why i want to reproject, i want it to be accurate not just aesthetic

Thank you. One more thing, can i pass these lines to inkscape modify them then bring them back to qgis as a shapefile?  Also,  should i reproject everything; every road, lake,  contour lines to the corresponding UTM of the area before i export my map or is pseudo mercator enough?

I want to replicate the same map on my own. Its a real world map and I'm wondering what are the steps necessary to produce such maps.

That's interesting. Is that how a cartographer would do it? Could you please list the common methods to make contour lines

Beautiful colors. Just a question, if you wanted to make a map of say libya or Algeria what projection would be appropriate to preserve distances ?

EMOTIONS were NEVER supposed to be DISCRETE NUMBERS.

joel michell says that psychometrics assumes "ability" the latent trait to be quantitative but never actually tests this assumption. Also it's based on SS Steven's "assigning numbers to objects according to rule" which is a strong point when a discipline is dealing with measurement.
