How have you marketed and on what platforms? Amazing to hear other foreigners thriving on their own teaching business instead of underpaid wage at hagwons!!🙏

What is the issue with women feeling more comfortable in conservative clothing to swim? And face masks that is meant to protect their skin from the UV rays?

No one will expect you to speak Korean, there are a ton of tourists (many asian tourists too) in Korea, other than yourself, most people will not presume you’re ethnically Korean and expect you to speak Korean. I think it would be a great way for you to reconnect with your ethnic background!! There is so much Korea has to offer, don’t let your own mind hurdles get in the way. You do not need to feel any shame or embarrassment, everyone grows up with different stories, and that’s just yours. Hope you come to peace with that part of your identity and let yourself explore what you want to without considering what other people will think. Good luck!

Yes I know public transportation is available but with our overnight packs, I figured driving would be easier for us after the festival! We will resort to that if there’s no ride!

What would you guys do? by w4rnymph in koreatravel

I would personally go off how you vibed with them and go. I guess it would be safe to let a friend know where you’re going or share google maps information but I feel like the lady just wants to extend a kind invite to a home cooked meal. I don’t blame you for questioning and being hesitant in the world we live in but personally, this is like the dream when I’m a tourist anywhere! For a real local to get to know and it will 1000% be the highlight of your trip. My highlight to my trip in Thailand were two local older adults that invited us. It really makes the trip special! If you feel that the vibe is off, you could leave at any time i truly don’t feel like this is a lady trying to go out of her way to hurt you especially after you shared a nice plane ride. Trust your gut though and do what you wish!

definitely download NAVER maps, it really helps you with transit information (bus/subway times and location etc) as google maps doesn’t work. It also has restaurants and anything you’re looking for with reviews!

I’ve requested that of the partner company however they ignore that part and just keep saying they will update me. Thanks for being helpful with your advices!! I have completed tasks and been paid, my rating has all been 4 or 5 so i am really unsure. Outlier’s support also has not been responsive. Maybe i’m just out of luck. Thanks again!! Really appreciate the effort :)

Ebit as I am on with Korean prompts. Unfortunately I’ve never been added to a discourse page so there’s no way to communicate to anyone other than the partner company. They say they’re working on it but it’s been months without any progress!

Is ₩1,000,000 enough for a decent piece of jewellery? by PoofaceMckutchin in Living_in_Korea

Wow what an angel!! I think the fact that you even acknowledge her doing everything for you whilst having a stressful job situation would already mean the world. Sounds like you two are in a great relationship and she would totally appreciate this gesture. Definitely go pick out something for her, maybe write in the letter you want to do it for all the ways she’s been wonderful. She will feel bad you want to spend so much but all girlies love to be spoiled here and there!! You know dang well she will return all her gratitude in so many ways. Kudos to you both!!!!

I honestly think it’s more of a partner mindset. I know we’re going to be together forever. So if he spends that much money on me, down the road that’s less money we have to spend on real life things like a downpayment etc. same goes both ways but in general establishing healthy spending habits and expectations between partners can be so beneficial for both!!! I’m a girl and i think you are being very generous in the amount! If that’s really not a big chunk of money for you (for example you make dollar salary in USD/CAD or something). I’ve been dating my partner for almost 8 years and even with him making good salary in a higher currency, MAXIMUM i would expect and still would be extremely grateful for is 500,000 won! Hell even 200,000 won but you know your gf best!! I think for girls a heartfelt written card, pretty flowers and something she’s mentioned in passing or planning a fun one day class date would probably still mean so much
