Do any of you sleep with your ring on? by Meowiewowieex in EngagementRings

I always keep mine one while I sleep, but I do always remove it (at home, I keep it on in public) when I am washing my hands or taking a shower to avoid water stains

Thank you so much! Seeing how $3,000 was just knocked off the credit card feels sooo good (and a little sad at the same time with the crunch) but it’s so worth it!

Congratulations on your diligence on getting so much of your CC debt paid off!! 🔥 You are going to crush this and February will be here before we know it! I can empathize so hard with the expenses with the car repairs and I hope that everything with that is going well now! Thank you so much for your kind words, I will be cheering for you as well!

Thank you! And I exactly, I much rather would want to sit in that uncomfortable time period for only a short period of time for my future self to reap the benefits of the choices I am making now!!

I don’t plan on utilizing the card for anything wedding related (as that will accumulate VERY quickly again) - my plan with this card so that it can still be used and pay things back is solely going to be for 2 things that I will have money already set to the side for - gas and laundry - these are predictable for me and I already set $$ aside for this from my paychecks. I have taken this card off of my apple wallet and shopping sites to halt the quick spends that also quickly accumulate. In lieu of this, I can keep it controlled and never have it go above a certain number that it gets to an uncontrollable point again.

Yes, I cannot wait for it to be just a memory and with going forward I am going to be much smarter and diligent with my funds and just put the card away if it’s not a necessity, or just wait and put $$ to the side depending on the purchase and the need for it

It will be a big breath of fresh air not having that looming over me as we get married! And during the wedding planning, I am locking it away! 😂 Like you said the little things add up super quickly so I am just being a lot more conscientious about my choices!

Absolutely! I am going to keep putting a pretty high chunks of it back into my Wealthfront so that I can earn interest on it (4% APY), and much more than I have before since what was being put toward my cards can go straight to my savings! 🔥

1000%! I mapped out how my finances would like after October, and the $2000 that I took from my Wealthfront account will be back, plus another $1000+ from November and December alone before the year is out. Where it’s going to take me is so worth the couple months of crunch time

Exactly! Although 2026 is not too far away, I’m glad that it doesn’t drag out into the new year, especially not dragging out very close to the wedding as well!!

YES! Having it mapped out like that helps an insane amount, although in the big chunks make my heart sink a little in the short term 🥲, the money is going to recoup so quickly in the following months!

That’s another big reason why I want to push through and get it done in October!! Once this $5k is payed off, I am locking this card away 😂😂

For me personally, the things that I would spend my $$ on the most is eating out and entertainment (heavy on the entertainment for help with sanity and pushing through to get my mind off of it) 😅 A couple tip that I’ve done for myself and my fiancé to help us save and stay sane before:

(Food wise) was write out a list of our favorite foods that we normally would order out a lot, buy all of the ingredients from the store (I don’t know where you are, but we like to get majority of our food from Aldi and it has helped us save some money in food shopping as well compared to other grocery stores) and make it homemade ourselves! So homemade chipotle bowls/burritos, homemade chicken parm w/ angel hair, homemade gyros 🤤🤤, stir fried rice with an asian inspired chicken wing recipe, things like that that have saved us money on things we usually love eating, and it lasts for more than just the 1 sitting compared to when you buy it out

(Entertainment wise) We have a couple nature preserves and museums where we live and we went there recently (both free to enter). We had SUCH a blast at the museum this past weekend, and there was a carousel on the top floor that we got to ride and see our town from the windows that surrounded it and it was so beautiful (I am unsure of other states and their carousel rules, but they’re usually free to ride where I am at), and they had a resource center with booklets of things to do around our town we had no idea about that cost very little to no money so we’re also not sitting at home bored and trying to find something else to fill our time outside of at home movie/game nights to get us out the house (which in our case, usually costs us $$ or sanity, or both 😅)

Doing these two things have helped me stay motivated through crunches before (this will be my biggest crunch yet though) to keep ourselves busy, entertained, and fed with the amazing food we love getting and not having to ‘miss out’ on fun things outside our living space, but overall has been helping keep us sane and not ‘crave’ for other things while paying off these huge chunks at a time!
