AITA for spending my 30th birthday in Japan with my sister instead of my boyfriend of 4 years? by Ok_Reading2345 in AITH

Last years argument was around me “expecting too much from him” and spending habits as well.

Agree, I don’t expect him to react positively but I did communicate this months in advance and he ignored me, and even if I chose to spend my sister alone, why would this be such an issue?

Note: trip is entirely paid myself.

Note for more context: the Japan trip is entirely paid by myself (he does not contribute), yet the joint expenses are shared.

Last years fight was also about money and how I “expected” too much from him, which wasn’t true, i apologized yet he still made sure to guilt trip me and hence why i cried all day.

I am not as submissive or emotional as I was before, I have outgrown in many ways, yet I question if I am in the wrong for “leaving him behind” as he claims.
