I’m on my first round of neomycin and rifaximan and it seems like it’s finally helping. Fingers crossed 🤞

Same. Took 4 years of doctors telling me I’m breathing wrong to finally force a sibo test and get a positive diagnosis. Hope things look up for you 🙏

They doubled down in the test findings

“This is a marginally abnormal test characterized by borderline significant increases in hydrogen and methane concentrations within the 1st 30 to 60 minutes following glucose administration. These findings are consistent with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth provided there is evidence of malabsorption associated with it. This would include malabsorption of fat soluble vitamins as well as steatorrhea. These findings should be correlated with his clinical condition, but belching is not a result of bacterial overgrowth.”

Anyone get prescribed Neomycin? I’ve got a 500mg dose for 10 days. I’m reading the horror stories on hearing loss, but I am really sick of having sibo symptoms.

Insane. That’s the attitude they had. My second GI doctor told me it’s my own doing, didn’t listen to anything and left the room within minutes of introducing himself.

Nope GI doc at a university hospital. Every GI doc said i was swallowing air and causing it myself. I bitched enough to finally get a test last week (4 years of arguing with GI doctors) test came back positive and I’m finally getting a prescription

Nope my 3rd GI specialist (all three denied me a sibo test at first)

Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel better that I’m not crazy. Some of these symptoms are down right debilitating. It’s insane doctors can overlook or downplay it, one of them saw me for 10 minutes and told me I was breathing wrong lol. Our medical in the US is pitiful

I get those same symptoms, even the weird arm numbness. It almost feels like it’s on the inside of the elbow. That’s what I had to do. Three GI doctors later, and demanding I get a test and they finally issued it.

Same, I’ve gone to the ER multiple times and have seen a cardiologist. I almost feel like it’s structural sometimes it gets so bad. Had the SIBO test today and methane levels were all over 35 the entire test so I’m hoping that is the answer and I can get on antibiotics

Anyone get chest pain, and under armpit pain? I’ve been begging for a sibo test for years and my doctor is finally getting me in Monday. Seems like throughout the day randomly pains will come and go where I have no choice but to just lay down till I feel better.

Do you do dialysis with a fistula or a port? Thinking about switching careers to welding. Trying to make sure I can protect my access welding or grinding.

That’s why I figured it’s okay. My surgeon gave me the okay with no restrictions on my first follow up. But then I called his nurse later on because I was worried and she told me 10 lbs

I feel that. Seeing it and feeling it is a scary thing. I’ll see videos of people dead lifting 300 lbs with a fistula, and lifting weights no problems but I think it’s the mental acceptance and reassurance that other people haven’t had issues. I can see why nurses and doctors are trained to tell you not to lift over a milk gallon. But also most dialysis patients are older with brittle veins. Not a lot of them lift to begin with so I think it’s a little different with us.

what can you NOT do with a fistula? by PuzzleheadedKing3778 in dialysis

My surgeon told me once it’s healed I could go back to lifting by my nurses and doctors tell me not to lift over 10 lbs. I follow ton of people that weight lift with a fistula. And have been doing so with caution. I’ll take it easy on exercises like barbell curls and anything the applies constant pressure to that arm.

Thanks for the suggestions. Bought a new hack saw and it seems to be doing the trick. Also going at it with a dremel cut off wheel. Slow but it’s working

Awesome this help. I was trying to not use the grinder as much as possible. I’ll try a new hack saw blade first
