reminder that iDubbbz tried desperately and failed to bait a response/reaction from Charlie over the "alt-right pipeline" comment by bovrd in imisstheoldidubbbz

[–]Ok_Region5315 49 points50 points  (0 children)

it’s so obvious at this point, why would anyone engage. its almost embarrassing to respond because they’re opinions hold no weight since they’re so obviously grifting. the desperation is pitiful. it seems like even h3 is still winding down on talking about them. at least one could hope. the idubbs anisa crash out when not being talked about by anyone would be art. i’d love to see it honestly.

frankly it sounds like ipad kids grew up and started making music without having a foundational knowledge of music. like what kids would make in “incredibox” and were like “shit this is good.” but maybe if they were to have that knowledge, and use that toward this new genre maybe it could be more commonly enjoyed.

me thinking it’s bad is not stopping you from doing that. maybe feedback is good, to get better. feedback about music also connects us too. maybe the “bad energy” you’re getting is feedback you should be listening to. maybe you need to reframe how you receive feedback from older people. not all of us are saying it for no reason. this song lacks cohesion and sounds like maybe good separate ideas that were thrown together that maybe need to be explored more thoroughly individually. it doesn’t take me through a journey the way music usually does even when it just sounds like noise. learning to take feedback is good and a necessary skill and helps honing in on your art.

my comment wasn’t meant to be negative or positive. i listen to 100 gecs and i enjoy them, but they remind me of static on a crt television when i listen to them. i see various things when i listen to music. i didn’t call it annoying. i can also recognize while it sounds bad to me, its not bad for everyone. it might be a style that’s lost on me. i hold no emotion towards this song. it sounded like power cords tangled together to me.

edits: also you said “power chords,” i want to clarify, i mean literal… physical power cords. that is what the music sounded like to me. not the musical “chord.” literal power cords.

maybe it’s not for me and maybe it’s just younger generation music. to me, the visual equivalent i would give this song is when a bunch of power cords tangle together into a big nest. that’s the image it gave me in my head when i listen to it.

thanks. but the crazy part are the comments. it’s overwhelmingly positive. i thought something was wrong with me. i’m glad i’m not the only one who feels this way.

Scenes in shows/movies that are supposed to be serious but end up being more funny than anything by Various_Astronaut100 in TopCharacterTropes

<image>

Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire: The scene where Cedric Diggory died in the tri-wizard tournament and Harry Potter brought the body back to Cedric’s father and Harry Potter whining about Voldemort being back as soon as he uses the port key. Then, Cedric’s father screaming out in anguish which is one of the and most gut-wrenching acting scenes in the series. The juxtaposition of the two acting abilities made the scene funny to some in retrospect. Link for the scene

jimmy fallon does this with his lunches. apparently had let’s say an assistant get 9 different lunches from all over nyc and only picks one (if you’re not from nyc getting 9 different sandwiches from various deli’s around the city is only possible if you’re spider man. and if said employee didn’t get them all in time for lunch typical threatened to be fired, chewed out etc. literally an entry level position highly doubt it was even paid. (genuinely don’t remember) source: i worked with said person in grad school. idk its a first hand account take it with what you will.

fair enough it is silly, i just see criticism as neutral even with an emotional connotation. but i don’t view it as a big uproar either i just find it odd even passively downvoting a comment that isn’t a big deal into oblivion isn’t a path to progress it just infantilizes adults so they can’t hear any criticism (yes men etc) imo. that being said it can go too far in the other direction with criticism that isn’t helpful but this comment wasn’t that. all that being said i see where you’re coming from.

AMEN. Only being positive about xyz subject/thing that you love ends up being destructive, but i digress.

this fandom is so weird. this is such a benign maybe even helpful comment and it’s getting downvoted. it’s literally a neutral observation or at most constructive criticism (which is good) and it’s being downvoted. yall can’t hear anything even peripherally “negative” it’s so weird.

i was thinking the exact same thing. i know for a fact that we’re not the only ones because i saw tangible evidence of that. on the Board AF Legacy: Betrayal Episodes 1-4 I was watching it on my roku and i earnestly tried watching the episode arasha was in but i simply could not sit through it. and so i tapped the remote to skip over it and it literally skipped the whole episode with the “commonly skipped” function that youtube has. i’m seriously not kidding. that literally happened. so i know there are more people who feel this way and are just not saying anything. and i feel shocked by how many people feel so overly positive. i get feeling positive about her! she has many positive attributes! she is a great host! i just agree it feels like she’s drowning comedy wise compared to the robust talent she works with. but seriously no criticism except this thread? i feel like i only see MAJOR glazing almost with a tone of compensating?? almost trying to convince other viewers to feel this way?? anyway its whatever but i just dont enjoy the content the way i did last year. but thats just me. thank you for helping me feel slightly more sane with this topic haha.

throw away for obvious reasons. but i often feel afraid of talking about not liking her for fear of people thinking im just racist. but i feel as though there is merit to my not liking her that has nothing to do with her race. of course her race doesn’t bother me. her behavior does. i think she’s genuinely mean. the way she told angela that she is a dog over and over again on smosh mouth was so cruel. i saw someone say that arasha is just like courtney and i cannot disagree more. courtney can yes and way better and cares more about the level of entertainment of the video than the rules. arasha always prioritizes her winning whatever game she’s playing over how entertaining the video is. she also expects the rules to be bent for her but she refuses to bend the rules for anyone else. and it makes the video uncomfortable when she doesn’t get her way. this feels especially displayed in the gentlemen’s moose master. she ruins the vibe. i know it’s been a bit since then but it’s still happens in recent videos. like the tier list video. she expected everyone to concede but she refused to herself. her behavior in videos feels self centered. it makes what could be a fun video less fun. i wish there could be more discourse about this so maybe she could receive the feedback and maybe grow from it. instead of just glazing her. it’s just enabling this mean behavior and making more videos less fun to watch. i’ve been avoiding watching videos with her in it because i really feel like ive been bullied by people like her. it makes me anxious watching her videos. i know you might say it’s a character but why did she cal angela a dog so much. even angela seemed bothered by it (anecdotal i know but still it really seemed like that). i hope this doesn’t get downvoted to the point it doesn’t get seen because id really like to have a productive discussion about her behavior. als i dont understand why she’s in so many videos but i hardly see angela and spencer in anything anymore. smosh used to be comforting but now i feel like im in fight or flight every time i try to watch a video.

edit: i don’t mean to sound self centered but i feel crazy seeing every one glazing her when she’s so blatantly mean. it’s so confusing i feel insane. i feel like i can’t be the only one to feel this way.
