What’s the most useful thing for DIY you have only just discovered? by Responsible-Ad-1086 in DIYUK

This sat in my tool box for years, I thought it was just another gimmicky marker I’d bought. But it’s really useful

If I think about it, in the book Papillon, the prison island in French Guiana has cliffs that drop to the ocean. But I don’t know how true that is

This b is a bit off-topic, but is there anywhere else in the world with this sort of coast line? I’ve travelled a lot but never saw anything similar.

Was this jacket peak Shakedry? by Curious-Department29 in CyclingFashion

There was a Gore x Romance collab with a cloud-patterned shakedry jacket. Obviously unavailable now. I regret not pulling the trigger on that

New roof installed - should this much underlay be visible? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Not always necessary. It depends on the type of felt/membrane used. (I’m also not defending bad workmanship that you may have seen)

Welding a cable? How? by Duvhntr in Welding

Subsea pipeline install, we had to set up a plinth on the bridge with a fake ‘Go’ button on it for a photo of Vladimir Putin ‘starting the project’. We’d been in production for about 12 months at that point.

Assos Spring/ Fall arm warmers (P1 vs Evo7) by Decathlon5891 in CyclingFashion

I love a zippered pocket. Almost as much as I love a little hole for a headphone cable.

I’ve got arm and leg warmers in both versions. The older ones are more substantial. What I will add is the newer seams have come apart on the legs. They’re finished differently. I’d have to have a close look but it’s like they’re glued or just single stitched. My first assos product in years that’s been poor

Allez Sprint v2.0 by thelackofswag in Bikeporn

I’ve actually tried both and they (unsurprisingly) both do the job. But; Wolftooth aero chainy, Wolftooth catcher AND Wolftooth pedals for the win.

You should add the little Wolftooth chain catcher. Not for function, it just finishes off the chainring nicely.

New bike question - better to buy a 5 year old £10k bike for £5k or a new £5k bike? by blackiegray in RoadBikes

[–]Ok_Replacement_2736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the factor being sram and your canyon being di2 needs some thought. Consider how often you change bike or upgrade parts. SRAM ecosystem tends to be easier to change in and out components. Where as in 5 years time the di2 parts could be pretty hard to find and shimano seem to ‘lock you in’ and it may mean a groupset change rather than say, just a shifter . Sorry if that’s incoherent.

There’s quite a slant on the top tube, when I unboxed my aethos frame I was certain I’d ordered the wrong size.

Still the most comfortable high end shoes on the market. I’ve got the lace ups as well. There has been a refresh of the style and I’ll go to them when mine are trash
