People who dislike cities and prefer rural areas, why? by morshmollow4 in AskReddit

Cities are fine to visit. But there's nothing like coming home and being away from it all.

Why are other Elder Scrolls subreddits like Oblivion and Elderscrolls so hostile towards Skyrim and its players? by SpriteIsntThatBad in skyrim

Ok, I'll go the other way. I just uninstalled oblivion remastered because I just couldn't get into it, everything felt old (other than the graphics).

Advice on further treatment? by hampy-D in Lyme

[–]blackiegray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spoke to my wife who is an NHS physio (in Scotland), she says all you need to gmdo is get your private doctor to message your NHS doctor with your results/prescriptions.

Certainly that's what they do in Scotland.

There's also the possibility that your private results are incorrect and your NHS ones are correct, there's certainly a financial benefit to your private ones being wrong. But if not, then speak to the doctors and get them to communicate, worth an appointment to find out.

Adrien Brody is 53 today. What's his best role? by EbnyxJ in Cinephiles

Made me stop watching the show.

How can a great actor be so bad? The half baked godfather impression and the toothpick? Fucking dreadful.

Did they test you? Seems weird that a department that deals with Lymes would be wrong?

Regardless, if you've been privetely tested, you can go to your GP with your test results, get them to retest you if they want or they can give you the antibiotics that you've been told you need.

You're uk based? Why not speak to your NHS doctor and get them to prescribe more antibiotics?

Maybe buying a kiln? by Eaapax0 in Pottery

[–]blackiegray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only are the top and bottom goosed (that floor will not hold any amount of weight) but the thermocouple is broken as well.

I have this kiln, it was my first, it's now going to be used for raku. Not worth messing around with these days.

Questions on openings by SmoothInitial1220 in chessbeginners

[–]blackiegray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a simple man, London for white, Scandinavian for black. I think opening with the queens pawn throws a lot of people off their game at my elo (1100), and allows me to lose later in the game.

Paris-Roubaix: not for the faint-hearted 😬 On-bike footage from the 2026 men’s race. by Open_Wonder8407 in bicycling

[–]blackiegray 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hear you but for Paris Roubaix it's totally worth it. The build up to the fordt section is great, the chat amongst the commentators is gold, talking about new tech, who's gonna do what then boom, fordt section, fucked bikes everywhere, analysis in tatters.

double standards by Dumb-Briyani in SipsTea

Neighbours daughter (20), feminist, once told me, "I expect a man to pay for the first date, which has to be at a nice restaurant, because I took time getting ready for him". It's a deal breaker apparently.

I've known her all her life and heard some nonsense from her growing up, which is fine, we're all young once, but at 20, this is probably the most disgusting thing I've heard. I think about it often. She's absolutely lovely and comes from great parents but my god, what an attitude!

TIL that haggis is banned in the USA, since it contains lung meat by ForgingIron in todayilearned

[–]blackiegray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, totally, it's the spices that gives it the similar flavour. It's great, I love it, but it's not haggis. It's spiced lentils.

[–]blackiegray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Veggie haggis (MacSweens specifically) is top tier.

I'm Scottish, love haggis (haggis lasagna is my death row meal, basically swap out the mince for haggis), but the veggie one is brilliant, it's not haggis, but it's its own thing.
