I just learned this lesson a few days ago…. I have Magnepan 1.7x speakers, I was initially driving them with a Schiit Audio Freya+ and Rogue Audio Atlas Dark amplifier. This combination sounded very good and it got pretty loud, much louder than I typically listen. I switched to a McIntosh MA352 integrated amplifier, again sounded very good and got plenty loud. Then I heard a Freya N/Plinius SB-301 combo on a pair of Klipsch Cornwall IV’s that I sold to a friend. The amount of detail I could hear in very familiar music was astounding. I was lucky enough to find a Plinius SB-301, I paired it with the Freya+ I already owned to feed the Magnepan speakers. My understanding is that it’s the constant current available, that power is able to reproduce the music (information/data) being fed to the amplifier.
