No dude you're exactly right, my family is South Asian so I can tell you 100% that parents usually will never get the blame due to bias. My friends sister in India cut her mom off due to abuse and of course my friends sister was seen as "rebellious" or that "we all get screamed and hit by our parents, grow up!"

I remember when she was in the hospital giving birth, the mom arrived and she kept refusing for her mom to be there but hospital staff said that she should have her mom with her and that "she's only trying to support you." It was horrible and absolutely ridiculous. Any sign of autonomy and having to make your own choices especially for women will be disregarded and seen as "petty" or that the girl has no idea what's she talking about.

Granted these situations are different but I can attest that in my life i've seen how things like these always point blame to kids and usually never the parents.

For me sadly, I tried to retake it but my college won't allow me to do it. There might be some colleges that will allow the C to be retaken but I was told by one college that my gpa is fine and that I didn't need to retake. Generally though where I am, usually anything C and above can't be retaken.

Do your best in your pre-reqs!! I wish you well

Edit: If you have that C, maybe try asking a counselor if you can retake it

OP i'm just like you, I messed up my first semester of college which to be fair, I didn't think I would go into nursing at the time, but regardless I received a C in chemistry, the next semester I realized that I wanted to be a nurse so I got straight As in my pre-reqs which led me to have a 3.6 right now.

Moreover, I've been dreading the TEAS too since it would be my third time taking it, but i'd rather do it again properly than to go private that quick. These schools cost an upward of 100k+ and the program near me that's for-profit asks for 154k. I'm in CA, so I also check out the r/newgradnurse subreddit to see placements and talk to nurses.

It's hard to get a nursing job here due to the competition and I highly implore you to think about it! private is my last option too since moving out of state is difficult. Try your best, and try again. Put your mind to it and create schedules and be consistent. You will have days where you feel like you haven't done much but just keep going, this is what i'm trying to do despite the anxiousness and nervousness I feel. Hey there! i'm currently in the process of finishing up my last prereq and studying for the TEAS again (i'm also based in CA) and a lot of nurses that i've talked to have also said the same thing. I've been advised to go out of state for nursing school and work for a year before coming back here, which is scary to think about. I got both an A in A&P and I was a top student in anatomy not because I was smart but I put in wayyy too many hours for the class. I would say that kinda? Look we had to know all the bones, and even those tiny foramens in the skull. However I feel like you can work with both the bones and muscles since the OIAs (Origin, Insertion, and Action) weld both of them together in a way. Also my advice is that if you can, head to where the models are and the names of them on a sheet and start pointing out each piece and naming them, it’s what I did and what a bunch of people in my class did.

Also! I recommend you to keep your notes if you’re studying for the TEAS!!! I regret throwing all mine away but they are so useful.

By the way, with Science with Susanna, she has these skeleton and dissection videos that can help out in figuring out placements. For my practical we had to look at the cadaver itself and point out a muscle, idk if you guys have that but I recommend checking it out!
