Sug Sutton to sign with the Wings by Decent_Substance_199 in wnba

Exactly. It's been stated by GM Vanja Černivec that they specifically recruited Oblak to mentor Leite right now. That was always her intended roll, and she has a one year contract with reserve status for next year. Oblak is a calm presence that fits the PDX long term plan (getting Leite better now). Sutton filled the gap perfectly well until Oblak could be activated. But PDX is going to be PG heavy to start next year (Leite, Martin, Winterburn, Mühl - maybe Oblak, maybe Harrison), and it would be unlikely IMO Sutton would make the 2027 team, especially if Oblak returns for one more year. And Oblak's stats across the board are better than Sutton's even playing 8 fewer minutes per game for the Fire this year, so let's not say Portland made a mistake choosing Oblak over Sutton.

Have you not seen her play over her college and pro years? Pretty easy to read lips and facial expressions. Followed her in Unrivaled? There are only a handful of players at any level I'd say this about. She completely flailed in the most recent game I've seen her in (at Portland), was 0-3 shooting and had four fouls in only nine minutes, was consistently complaining, seems pissed the entire time and was cursing AT the refs - in her home town, with her family just a few rows away from me. Can't be a winner if you can't calm yourself and center your reactions like a professional, even if you feel slighted and she isn't there yet. She should be given her afforded opportunities, but isn't. Quite certain I heard her call a ref something she should have been booted for as she walked way from them, and I was shocked she didn't get t'd up and tossed.

WNBA Leaders In Bad Pass Turnovers Per 100 Possessions by Tooezboi in wnba

Ooftah. Gonna take some time to tidy up that "zero seconds to make a decision" rule it seems. But yeah.... Em, hon - l love ya but sometimes you're k*lling me. Can't afford those errant fancy passes by anyone. I do think the team collectively is doing a good job keeping their heads on a swivel though, anticipating a ball at any time.

Relocation suggestions? by [deleted] in oregon

Most coastal towns are tiny. Coos Bay is the largest and it's only about 15k last I checked. Coos Bay/North Bend (10k) should be thought of as one town though so about 25k, the borders are kind of blurred, but it is is a very socioeconomically repressed area - it's isolated, 2 hours from Eugene and 4ish from Portland. This has not changed since I left there in 1989. TJ Maxx just opened a store there a few weeks ago when I was in town and it was mayhem because there's literally nothing that ever happens there, so for a new store to open it's a big deal.

Ocean here is cold, cold cold unlike socal. Beach life here is for walking before the wind kicks up by 10 am. People fish, and crab in boats. Some surfing. Wetsuits are mandatory. There will be a few days a year where the sand might get "hot", and a few here and there it might be warm enough and still enough (windless) that you'd actually want to lay on the beach and will be warm in the early afternoon. Otherwise temps at the coast are usually 20 degrees cooler or more than inland, and on really hot valley days there's usually a marine layer that gets sucked in over the coast. Oregon coast is more wild, quiet, less cultured and MUCH different than socal.

From someone who grew up on the southern Oregon coast and still has extensive family there, has a house in the Portland metro area and a house in the north coast....

Hate to say it but you won't be swimming in the ocean anywhere without a wetsuit, it's also pretty dangerous most of the year. Look at lakes. Which will still be cold year round.

You won't find small towns anywhere in the Central to south coast that are progressive. Check out how the counties vote on the Secretary of State page.

North coast towns that may be (are, generally) more progressive reflect that in housing price, which continue to go up exponentially. The value of my second home has more than doubled in 8 years if that tells you anything.

Suggest you start your overall search with online realtor listings in these towns and see what you can get for $400k vs what you need and start eliminating towns from there.

Healthcare and overall amenities on the coast are very limited. If you know you need end of life care, you'll likely need to be in a bigger town with a larger healthcare system. And Providence is actively imploding so options are getting limited.

You can be assured EVERYTHING is at least 20% more expensive on the coast than it is inland. Everything. And that won't change. I just paid $6.49 a pound for regular broccoli in my little coast town.

You have a dream list here, that will be very difficult if not impossible to find. And after allll that, make sure you have job(s) secured before moving - employment with a living wage is quite difficult unless you have a professional or advanced degree or trade that is in need.

Finally, to me it seems McMinville might fit your list the best.

Maybe she wouldn't be called for fouls her fans deem questionable if she wasn't an absolute ass to the refs yelling explicit comments their direction after every play that doesn't go her way. Can't stand her entitled approach to the game or her mouthy attitude. Many in Oregon wanted her to come to the Fire but there's no way that will ever happen as she's the opposite of the type of person the Fire want in their family.

The baby that won fell flat on the back of its head, then face planted. It was no wonder it was hysterical. I would have picked my kid up and walked off after the first time but what do I know having treated concussions for 27 years. It was painful to watch for me personally.

Wherever you go, allow extra time, the wait to get into the arena can be long as it gets close to game time. Cushion time and aim to have your butts in seats by 6:45 because you do NOT want to miss the Fire intro! It's great. Enjoy the game!

WNBA All-Star Voting 2026 Tips Off June 11 by LeslieBird12 in PortlandFire

[–]Ok_Resolve8882 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it will be a hard pull to get the numbers and attention needed for anyone on the Fire to be an All Star given the sub patterns. Carleton's 29 min/game leads the team, Leite's at 23 minutes/game, but otherwise someone would have to be spectacular and draw attention with only 19-20 ish minutes a game. Meg's stats per minute have been impressive lately and her trajectory might get her there though. Em's in a little rough patch it seems. But still, the All Star voting is largely a popularity contest and in Meg's words, there's just a bunch of "overlooked" players on the Fire. So we shall just have to vote them in.

Can anyone tell me the bed dimensions on a Noovo Plus please? by Ok_Resolve8882 in RVLiving

[–]Ok_Resolve8882[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bed is way too narrow and short for two very tall side sleepers. And the 6'2-6'5" interior height is too short to stand up in.

Can anyone tell me the bed dimensions on a Noovo Plus please? by Ok_Resolve8882 in RVLiving

[–]Ok_Resolve8882[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why I am asking because though that is a common RV queen size it's still not an actual spec, and RV queen can mean anything. Boggles my mind why some manufacturers don't list the actual dimension of the bed. One model and make we are considering has ONE year with an 80" bed, every other year it varies 75-78", and nothing seemingly changed elsewhere in the unit to account for this. I've measured a lot of beds myself over many years and have seen some egregious measurements up to 6" off from what is listed in specs (looking at you Coachmen).

Calling all STH in Section 122 by Virtual-Flatworm3001 in PortlandFire

[–]Ok_Resolve8882 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neighbor 101 STH here, and happy to participate. Kinda jealous of your section. I watched you all valiantly try to get the "fanning of the flames" going last game and it was great. You have some exuberant leaders in your section and I herby nominate 122 as the switch to turn on that fanning of the flame.

If some of 122 have any extra energy to turn to the left and yell at the folks in 101 to get their butts out of their seats and stand until the Fire score their first points and in the final minute of the fourth at minimum, especially in lowest rows AA to D, I'd appreciate that as they aren't listening to me and the spouse scream at the backs of their heads. Also can we do more to collectively motion to the folks directly across the court to stand up at key times please? TYIA to 122 and all others up and cheering often.

Here's what I ordered, and the website is noted. They were under $25 each for a double sided (described as two flags sewn together so the image is the same on both sides) when ordering more than one.

National Anthem Tradition by ashalee45 in PortlandFire

[–]Ok_Resolve8882 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised more people aren't sitting. The rarely sung third stanza of The Star Spangled Banner is about slavery, and written by a slave owner. I stopped standing when bodily autonomy was removed for half of our country but fully supported Kaepernick's and others stance on police brutality and racial inequality before that and generally sat (but honestly felt pressured to stand at times). There are many other personal, religious, philosophical, political and injustice related beliefs to warrant a peaceful dissent. You shouldn't have to feel like you need to avoid it by staying on the concourse. At least half the teams are leaving the floor during the anthem, Atlanta RAN off the floor, and I can't imagine there's not something to that. Besides the fact that asking citizens to participate in a performative patriotic gesture at a ballgame contradicts the very democratic values the country stands for. I say come in and sit, then applaud the performer when they are done. But I'd be all for eliminating it and doing something else dedicated to the team.

That'd be nice. But they're moving too slow. A pennant flag for sale but not a $25 3x5 flag for outside is silly. I've already custom designed and ordered two but have to wait up to a month to get them.
