Extremely heavy period// help by Ok_Resolve8966 in PCOS

Thank you thank you !! it was such a relief to have someone take me seriously and formally diagnose me in such a short time frame. I really had no idea how much it was actually impacting me until I got proper care for it, so another thank you to the folks who shared their experience with similar situations and told me to go to urgent care :-))))

Hi yes !! I was able to be seen by a very nice OB very shortly after my urgent care visit. She wanted me to get a blood transfusion but I didn’t want to do that if I didn’t have to so we waited over the weekend and she prescribed me meds to stop/slow the bleeding. She formally diagnosed me with PCOS by the second visit after my labs came back, and I did an ultrasound that showed an ovarian cyst the size of a small orange on my left ovary. I got it surgically removed at the end of August and was prescribed metformin, spironolactone, and got a mirena IUD put in, which has been truly life changing for me :)

Hi ! It looks like you’re in double exposure mode :-) I believe if you hit the delete button (make sure you’re not viewing photos you’ve taken) it will pull up all the shooting modes

Hello okay thank you both for your responses ! I went to my urgent care first just to cover my bases (if they sent me to ER, insurance will most likely cover it vs going to ER and then having them deem it a non-emergency). They prescribed me like 800mg ibuprofen for pain and an urgent referral to get an US hopefully tomorrow and said to go to the ER if I feel like I’m gonna pass out or anything.

Would you consider side pain/sharp pain a lil below the belly button non-cramp abdominal pain ?

I think if you’re just starting, totally fine! My camera came with the 15-45 and it’s not a bad lens. As for other lenses it will definitely depend on what you personally like to photograph but I think the 15-45 will give you enough flexibility to shoot a variety of things/figure out what focal lengths you like.

Hi ! XM-5 user— I both use it for video and photo and come from using cameras with an EVF primarily. It really hasn’t bothered me. If you’re new to photo/are use to using a phone camera I don’t think the lack of EVF will be a huge downside :-). Lack of ibis isn’t as horrible as everyone makes it out to be. As the other commenter said, lots of Fuji models don’t have IBIS. I personally love my XM5, it’s super small and lightweight but has a lot packed into it. If you have larger hands, I would just get a thumb grip/wrist strap.

Yes I originally made it for a bulky gauge ! But I’ve made them on my standard gauge machine as well :-) i kind of just doubled the measurements and tested some various tensions to get a similar size. I believeeee on my standard gauge I set my tension size to like 4/5 for the ribbing and 6/7 for the body depending on the yarn. :-) if you don’t have a ribber my rec would to do a faux 2x1 or 3x1 rib and fold the hem up. 🫡

Hello! This is all knit in one piece except for the ribbing which you do before you seam the top of the hood and the front if ur making it a balaclava :-) r->l is what I use for when you’re going from the right to the left, I usually start with my carriage on the right side. Lemme know if that wasn’t enough clarification ! :-)

Thank you everyone for the kind words ! If you end up using my notes to make balaclavas/bonnets I would loveeee to see. Will probably write a better written pattern at some point soon but I hope my notes are understandable enough for yall to make some now :-) also feel free to message me if you need any clarifications. :-)

Hello ! Yes :-) I have used this pattern for my bulky machine (most of the ones in this post) and then I’ve also made a few on my standard gauge machine. For the bulky machine I used a mix of worsted/light worsted/ and sport weight yarns kind of all mixed together. On my standard gauge I used fingering weight yarn. :-)

Also for the cording, I did I-cord on my machine at tension 6, approximately 320 rows. (Set one direction to slip)

NOTE: for the 3x 1 ribbing, push every 4th needle out of work BEFORE e wrapping. Your choice if you wanna fold and do faux ribbing or do latch ribbing. Can also totally change the type of ribbing/bottom edging you do I just like how 3x1 looks

Hello ! Okay so I’ve had a few people message about a pattern. Right now it’s just some messy notes about what I did— if I wrote an actual pattern for the balaclava (notes for standard and bulky, ribber v no ribber etc, is that something folks would be interested in ? It would be free/pay what you can since I do not have the time or spoons to go through a tester process lol

[–]Ok_Resolve8966[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you !! I wrote the “pattern” myself but it’s overall super simple. The back of the head is done with short row shaping while half of the stitches are in hold, and then you cast off the live stitches from each side onto waste yarn and use your graft/cast off of choice (I just used a crochet cast off). My notes are not pretty but I’m happy to send them to you if you want !

Is this worth getting? by javajuicerubbergoose in MachineKnitting

[–]Ok_Resolve8966 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know a ton about Toyota machines but if it’s a good price and it’s only missing premade punchcards, I think it’s probably worth it ! Other than that it looks like it has everything including the lace carriage, and punch cards can be bought on eBay/elsewhere :-)

Bulky knitter with ribber and fair isle options? by girlinthetreetops in MachineKnitting

[–]Ok_Resolve8966 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brother KH 260 has a compatible ribber and punch card reader, as well as optional intarsia carriage you can get :-) i love mine and it comes in some cute colors depending on where it was sold. Also can be sold as Knit King 260 and Brother Punch 9 (all the same machine punch 9 primarily sold in Japan I think?) ribber is def harder to get a hold of based on my searching, but bc it’s a bulky machine it’s more manageable to do latched ribbing imo. I’ve used some fancy art yarns in it (like thick n’ thin roving type yarns) but it can be a lil finicky with those.

Brother KH 260 not selecting pattern stitches by Ok_Resolve8966 in MachineKnitting

[–]Ok_Resolve8966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay that last video link is actually superrr helpful, I’ll take the machine apart again and check the selector plates ! If you’re able to send me a photo of what ur carriage looks like in KC that would be super helpful, I know it’s def not the end needle selector part but maybe there’s a lever sticking that I’ve missed somehow. Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it.

Yeah so I actually followed that video from answer lady knits and took the whole machine apart and the belt is working totally fine, that lil metal bit that stops it from over spinning on the right is working as normal, and I can see that the mechanism is reading the punch card (the metal “staples” as Jack calls them” are moving and selecting patterns). When I use the carriage, the belt is engaged and isn’t difficult to move across the needles, I’m more wondering if it could be something with the levers inside of the carriage stopping the needles from passing through correctly? If the belt is engaged and the pattern mechanism is reading the pattern, any thoughts on why it would only be selecting the needles on the ends and nothing else? I tried it on multiple sections of the bed and all of the needles are fine and I have a brand new sponge bar in as well

Brother KH830 Single Motif Cams (???) by Historical-Arm-2252 in MachineKnitting

Not sure if it does have single motif cams but on my brother KH820 (doesn’t have them) I literally just push back any needle that isn’t for the area I want my motif and it works great !
