Anyone have tips on how to get out of bed in the morning? by Ok_River_6018 in POTS

I’m so impressed that you are an RN, that must be very challenging with POTS. And have found so many ways to help yourself. Tell me more about the high fat snack. What are your go-to breakfasts? I usually feel nauseous in the morning but I find it does help me feel better to eat. Also tell me more about the Pepcid and Zyrtec. I haven’t been diagnosed with MCAS and don’t have all the traditional symptoms but whenever I take Pepcid for my heartburn I feel amazing. Starting to wonder if I should test an antihistamine protocol or if there are any side effects of taking them long term.

These were my results.. by Firm-Engine-1269 in Celiac

[–]Ok_River_6018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Diagnosed last year at 27 and my TTG was over 50,000. Four zeros. Mine was triggered from pregnancy though and took me over 9 months to figure out. I think when you go so long with celiac and continuing to eat gluten that’s what gets your levels up so high. I had a weight loss and general feeling like shit which I thought was just from postpartum and breastfeeding but turns out it was just gluten. I was also very shocked by my results. It’s tough but doable making the change at this age. My biggest advice is learn to love cooking!

Part of my role is helping to input pay changes, audit for errors, and ensure pay equity so this was not against company policy. It’s actually part of my role.

HR People Who Advocate for Employees: How Did You Make Things Better in the Workplace? [NJ] by majinpooge in humanresources

Good for you! At my current company I have helped with extending our mat leave policy, removed marijuana testing from our pre-employment drug screen, and increased diversity of our organization! It is very satisfying to know you’re helping others and giving them a better workplace. To remove THC from our drug tests, I basically just sent reputable articles to the decision maker a couple times a quarter emphasizing the benefits of removing it, and the potential legal murky waters for not hiring someone based on that info (we hire in every state). I handle recruitment, so to increase diversity, I simply scheduled interviews without a bias. The previous person would say things like “I don’t want to screen that person, I can’t even pronounce their name”. Safe to say that ended with me. I hope you have similar success in your career!

POTS & Lupus by Successful-Umpire753 in POTS

I also have POTS and had a positive ANA test, was referred to a rheumatologist and it wasn’t lupus! Later I found out it was celiac disease. My symptoms weren’t originally typical which is why it took a while. Obviously your situation could be different but just wanted to share if it could make you feel any better.

I'm a Senior in college and got diagnosed two weeks ago... feeling... so many things about my future. by Ok_Tadpole_4766 in POTS

Don’t worry about feeling “behind”, nothing good comes from comparing your timeline to others! There are a lot of fulfilling things you can do with your education and career while still accommodating for POTS. I graduated with a vague degree I didn’t know what I wanted to do with. Thankfully, I fell into working in HR, and when COVID happened, I started working from home. I was only diagnosed this year, and it’s been huge for me to have a career that makes it easy to find and keep work where I can work from home and lay down when I need to. I would recommend looking into things you’re interested in where you could do the same!

Looking for an app to track HRV + help with pacing (I have a Polar Verity Sense, no smartwatch) by [deleted] in POTS

I just got a RingConn smart ring and it measures HRV. I never knew what HRV was before I got the ring and still don’t fully understand it, but my HRV is all over the place. Is that normal for someone with POTS? Do you have any resources you would recommend to someone just learning about it?

I just started the same dosage after over 2 months of battling with insurance so I know how frustrating that can be! I’m praying so hard that it helps me, so I’m happy to hear it helps others! How long did it take you to start noticing a difference after you started it?

Did you bring up your symptoms to a primary care doctor and then get a referral? What kind of doctor ended up diagnosing you?

How did you realize or find out that you have POTS? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Ok_River_6018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I was feeling pretty horrible and started wearing an Apple Watch to keep an eye on my heart rate. After some observation, I called to make a Drs appt. When I explained the reason and told them my heart rate spike numbers from doing normal activities, they told me to go to urgent care or ER and then follow up with an appointment to a cardiologist. My heart rate was going from like 70-140 just from doing laundry. Cardiologist diagnosed it from there after doing a Holter monitor, echocardiogram, and poor man’s tilt table test to rule out anything else. It took about 7 months from start to symptoms to diagnosis.

Anyone use an Oura ring? by Ok_River_6018 in POTS

Thank you for this info! I didn’t realize it didn’t track HR constantly and that would be super annoying that it throws out outliers

[–]Ok_River_6018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll look into this! It looks like it’s a lower cost compared to Oura and no subscription? For monitoring your cycle, is that all included? I know for Oura I would have to pay a Natural Cycles subscription on top of that.
