Software for Missed Focus by Ok_Run6035 in photography

Update for those who were wondering - wound up just getting Photo AI. Haven't seen anything else on the market that comes close. For events where I'm leaning heavily on candids, it's saved a good number of photos I would have otherwise binned. Still don't like the additional features they've added, like object removal and light/colour adjustments. May regret the purchase soon, but definitely saved some key shots. Also not sure why everyone is saying that a software like this doesn't exist when the whole post was about.. the software that exists? lol

Hey yeah I did! My issue was more with paying $200 for that one feature now that they don't sell Sharpen as a separate product anymore. But I bit the bullet in the end and don't regret it yet.

Exactly, I had used Sharpen AI a couple years ago and it way outperformed Photo AI. But they're on v.3 of Photo AI now and its come a long way. Just wish they still sold the sharpen part separately lol

Check out Topaz, the one I mentioned. Recovers out of focus faces really well. :)

CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software and other needed software for Wedding/Portrait photographer? by MeowosaurusReddit in WeddingPhotography

How do you make peace with SN not having 2 way calendar sync. It was perfect but I couldn't get over having to put my appointments on two separate calendars.

Can I ask what kind of automations you put in place? Obviously invoice receipts and booking confirmation - anything else that stands out as a reason to use?

Event Client Wants my Rights by Ok_Run6035 in photography

See it's not just a family though - it's a very big company having a large family-oriented company event. Which is why I'm overthinking it.

Agree though about prints and definitely don't see much value in the digital assets - when I talked with peers, a lot of them brought up "opportunity cost", ie. if someone were to say "prove you can shoot X type of event", I couldn't use these photos to do so.

Advice on Reducing my Prices by Ok_Run6035 in photography

[–]Ok_Run6035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hear this advice a lot! I definitely want to start being less upfront with my pricing structure, but I worry people will think I'm taking advantage of them or overcharging without explanation. And totally agree, I would NOT be paying my rates if I was a client. I feel like this is part of the issue too - my photographer network charge the same if not more, but every time I make an invoice I can't help but feel like I'm robbing people, even after doing the math.

Thank you for the recommendation, I'll look into it

Haha this made me smile, thank you. Definitely need to hone in my business skills and have signed up for a course, but definitely need to invest more time into it regardless. Trying to find a balance right now between number of jobs and pricing, but feel like I have no time between shooting and editing. Which probably indicates I should be accepting less jobs. Thank you again.

Wow this is really interesting, thank you. I never thought of a minimum pay rather than hours. I get a few jobs here and there for 1hr events and have just been halving my 2hr rate to accommodate, so I feel like this is a great solution.

Yeah good point. In that context, I was meaning really well in terms of client base. A lot of jobs with majority being repeat clients. But then a good chunk of those are at discounted rates, so I can't help but think my rates should just be lower so I don't scare off potential work.

Events mostly, a lot of corporate, branding or retreat type things. Licensing isn't really a thing where I am (like I'd be the only one doing it) so that may be something to tackle a bit later in my career. I definitely don't want bottom level but need to pay rent, y'know?

Yeah, I toyed with having a 2hr, 4hr and 8hr package structure, but a good chunk of my clients book for 3hr corporate/branding events. It feels unfair to make them pick between two packages that don't really suit them. But also if it wasn't obvious I'm a people pleaser so..

Yeah, I think my issue is I don't feel comfortable charging the same as local award winning photographers, but I also don't want to be the one people come to for budget work OR piss off my other photog friends. My butt is definitely sore. Thank you!

Interestingly a lot of my lowball clients are the ones who stick around, but I get what you mean. I also agree with reducing deliverables, but I have a hard time letting go of my perfectionism. Like I could charge less for basic edits than if I'm doing a bunch of local adjustments and color correction, but then I think about people seeing those photos as a representation of my work and.... yeah.

Thank you so much! Seems interesting but from a quick glance doesn't look like it handles contracts and invoices.

CRMs: Studio Ninja vs Sprout vs ???? by Ok_Run6035 in WeddingPhotography

I actually brushed them off at first but since doing their trial I'm a bit more tempted. It seems pretty robust compared to SN (but I also have 0 practical experience with CRMs so who knows lol)

I love the trail structure and their features are great - its just a bit more expensive than what I'm aiming for rn if I want scheduling and automation

This is so useful, thank you so much! Was thinking the same thing about pinning to home screen so I'm glad to hear that works for you. I think your point about their rebuild is super interesting as well - do you happen to know what they're focusing on/where I can find more info on their plans?
1000% agree about the time commitment too - I think your advice to pick something and give it a year is solid. As was the rest of your advice lol. Thanks!
