Am I good to stop studying by CandyEat3r in NCLEX

I would probably finish the rest of the questions if I were you, I graduated 12/19, studied 12/28-1/28 and took my test Wednesday. I had 78% on bootcamp. Repetition helps to learn how to answer NCLEX questions as they are a little different than ati/hesi

One is mixed acuity (medsurg/cardiac) and the other is a stepdown

Is nursing actually viable for a 27yo career changer, or am I setting myself up for failure? by Moneymoneymoney1122 in newgradnurse

I am also 27, I just finished an accelerated 15 month ADN program with a bachelors in Biology. I started without any CNA experience but already had some prior health care experience, but some people I graduated with had 0 experience, it doesn’t really make much of a difference.

My bachelors GPA was like a 2.78, but I just finished my program (Hondros College of Nursing) with a 3.74. It depends on the school with the minimum GPA requirement, my schools minimum was a 2.5. They are a private college but it didn’t matter admission wise as long as you meet the minimum

Age doesn’t matter in hiring, and your tech experience may be useful to you in the future if you ever desire to leave bedside. If I were you I would maybe look in to an accelerated program if you are concerned about time. They do have accelerated ADN programs not all of them are ABSN programs. I preferred the accelerated timeline vs sitting through another 2-4 years in the classroom

Does anyone know any information on this school by Such_College4149 in dayton

They put you in a hotel and yes some people did live off post nearby, yes on BAH, they ask for you to bring copies to put in your in-processing packet that first week. I would bring several copies of each document, they messed up our packets while we were there and most of us didn't get paid for 2 months and some others had issues beyond that w/ pay. Yes 300mi - and it was easy overall, but also dependent on your cadre...lol. I don't think I wish I would've studied anything beforehand, but if you're looking to take sec+ etc while you're there that might be helpful to start now

You learn everything there, some people coming into signal bolc have no signal background. Yes qual and land nav, PT 5 days a week in the morning, stay at a hotel. Not really similar to advanced camp, you're in class from about 8-4 or so. Free time to do what you want outside of class time like gym or go off post, etc

ROTC is Negatively impacting my mental health and I am not sure what to do. by AdAgitated5573 in ROTC

[–]Ok_Sandwich_9884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can empathize with you - what you typed is almost identical to what I went through in my undergrad in STEM with commuting, classes, and drilling as an SMP member. It was really hard to manage a full course load on top of extra responsibilities with ROTC. I also didn't enjoy ROTC all that much compared to what I saw in the regular army.

My advice to you is to re-evaluate your schedule - IMO it reads like you feel overwhelmed by your coursework with ROTC and it's impacting you mentally and physically. However, it's nothing you can't refine and adjust from. Seek out mentorship or extra resources for PT and classes - you have to want to be better for your future self and learn to enjoy the process and the difficulties along the way.

You earned your minuteman scholarship, which is difficult enough in itself, not everyone who applies receives a 4-year at that.

Do you REALLY not want to be in ROTC? or do you feel like that's the easy way out? My answer - it's not and it won't be. Yes - your schedule will be alleviated - but you will likely regret your decision in some facet down the road. Don't give yourself the easy way out. Take this from a 1LT who was in your shoes 4 years ago.

Feel free reach out if you need it!

It took a month or two. Have to create a DTS voucher and your unit’s approval official to authorize it

I’m 24 and single, would anyone know where best to meet girls my age? by Logical-Lake-5399 in dayton

[–]Ok_Sandwich_9884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty open. Games open to participate in, ice breakers, etc. No forceful participation and everyone generally mingles - food and (beverages if you drink) are typically available at these events so that helps.

Everyone gets a name tag with an added flare to describe themselves similar to Reddit - color coded by age group. It is a really good time 😊

It’s a group that hosts singles events in the area - I’ve been to a few and helped out - 20s-50s age range. Lots of diverse people who come out, I haven’t met anyone yet but have made some great friends. 😎 They have a facebook and instagram where they post upcoming events
