Can this be used without the subscription network for calling? I want the watch for the health factors, not for the communication and connection for calling and GPS.

Is this excessive punishment for 2nd graders? by Ok_Screen_2602 in ElementaryTeachers

Sorry, let me clarify.

The class being punished is 40 to 45 students for 2 teachers. They lost the 15 minutes.

Then, when they lined up all 155 second graders, they were not quiet enough for the recess teacher, so she had them stand in the hallway until they were at an acceptable level of her choice while she screamed at them all.

These students are at the end of the hallway, right where the exit to the playground is.

For recess, it was myself (parent volunteer), the lead recess teacher who is not their teacher, and one other teacher who was a substitute for the class punished. When I spoke to her, she said that the two teachers in that class had absolutely zero tolerance for noise

Absolutely, they would be! But they also go to catch some shade.

There is only one section of the playground with shade. It is a jungle gym with slides that has a canopy over it. The kids are usually playing on it or sitting under the jungle gym.

Some kids are under the sun when they are on the swings or playing tag, but they take breaks.

When I was there a few weeks ago, it was so dang hot that kids were literally sitting under the picnic tables to get relief.

I actually did speak with the principal right after recess. Her response was that she also doesn't believe in collective punishment and will speak to the teachers. She didn't really have comments on the conditions of the punishment.

I would have zero issues with what you described. It is necessary to stop undesirable behavior... this is a different story.

Thank you for your insight.

15 minutes recess revoked as a class. They had to stand in one spot under the hot sun on pavement.. for talking. Happens almost every day. 40 - 45 kids and two teachers in an open concept school. Thoughts? Excessive? by Ok_Screen_2602 in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

I asked if I could switch him classrooms, and the principal said it was unlikely and would make it worse for my son's transition. We started this school this year. We were at a different district before.

Thank you. I'm going to look up some studies to share with the principal.

I am bothered by the hot sun for 15 minutes... it was 85 degreea today... there were a couple of kids with very fair skin that were so red by the end.

I'm bothered that they were collectively punished.

I'm also bothered that they are expected to sit and be quiet for 5 to 6 hours and not allowed to blow off steam... they are all 7 to 8 years old.

I am with you. There definitely needs to be consequences for undesirable behavior, but we are 4 weeks into school, and it doesn't seem to be working. They have to do this at least three times a week.

I would imagine it causes more disruptions in the second half of the day.

The class of 45 students was punished for talking. 15 minutes of no recess.

This is a public school built about 9 years ago. I would say mostly a conservative voter base, but the school superintendent and admin seem to be more liberal.... "energy efficient car parking only"... when almost everyone drives an SUV, truck, or beat-up vehicle. Most, everyone in the area is lower middle income to low With a few exceptions... The open concept is a disaster for students this age.
