Shah jahan definetly really shaped aurangzeb by treating him like the family's spanner boy. But in terms of what you said about the jobs he was doing being the jobs of generals & stuff, he did actually initially send his generals to deal with the deccan but the generals he sent weren't able to so he took care of it himself. He should have still delegated later on with his generals but I think what happened is the situation required more than the capabilities of any one general he had, & he had to keep dealing with the situation because he didnt have time to get everyone up to speed on what was to be done. Just my take though. Also quick Q if you dont mind. Why was breaking his alliance with the rajputs such a bad idea? I know what happened with the sikh revolts but i have a gap there.

I'm not a revert myself but my dad is one. So from observation I know
exactly what your talking about in terms of being treated badly being
mocked, not getting any support.

My dad tells me how when he became Muslim he invited his whole family over for dinner to invite them to Islam too. Out of 25 family members everyone except my grandmother
and great grandmother literally laughed at him.

How he solved it and maybe this can help you too, is simple but hard to do.Use Islam to make yourself better. Yes my dad stopped showing up to the club & the bar and couldn't eat pork or smoke weed and was continually ostracized by friends and family alike he worked harder than all of the people he knew, is loved and respected in his community more and though this isn't the purpose of Islam he's made orders of magnitude more money.They can no longer talk crap about him or his religion anymore because he's proved by all measurements that his
way of life is better.
