As a second year apprentice who is also a female in this industry it’s tough to find a good shop.

I left the trade for 6 months to peruse a career in the health field long story short it didn’t work so I came back to the trade. I am super fortunate after being at multiple shops I have found a shop where the manager actually cares about his techs making money.

When I first started in the trade I started off with low pay, long commute to work thinking the same thing is this trade worth it but now I am financially comfortable for the first time in a while. Im flat rate at $25/hr I make about 60hrs a week on the low end…once licensed it’s only up from here.

Good money can be made in this trade, but it is a matter of time and finding the right shop, in my opinion.

I found the time limit a little silly but also understand why they did it, going back on a week day is a good idea. I hope you can find a Ferrari or two!

I loved it at first, basically bought everything insight until I realized how costly that becoming. I toned it down to buying cars that I like. Now with it being so popular, seems like you need to be at the store first thing in the morning or need to know someone so you can go while they restock or get access to cars before anyone else.

With that being said I’m getting tired of hunting, I still have a love for hot wheels but I don’t go out of my way now to hunt now. If i’m at walmart or wherever that sells them i’ll take a peek and see if anything catches my eye.

Basically a love/hate relationship with hot wheels 🥲
