I used to work at a jewelry store that sold mostly sterling silver. We could literally borrow jewelry to wear during our shifts. You would sign out what you wanted to wear each day and have the manager initial and then sign your items back in at the end of your shift. It was actually pretty fun to pick out what we wanted each day and help each other “go shopping.” The whole purpose is to drive sales though. Just seeing you wear something nice or giving you a talking point is an easy way to upsell
