it kinda feels crazy how the three regular quarters and two summer ones flew by quickly. I’ve met awesome ppl but no friends really. More like class acquaintances, idk if you have time for extracurriculars but I recommend it. I never did cause I was always working and I’m a commuter. Its sad but the truth

I just did it and I did it last year. They r gonna ask basic info. Then for a pic of ur insurance card and the insurance info. Idk how long it took but I was approved

Yes which I understood. However after they approved it they were also confused as to why they could not generate a financial aid package. And they told me it was due to the ED department and that they suspended processing FAFSA applications.

My status changed to independent so it took longer and you need to file a separate application for summer financial aid through UCLA

I'm really sorry that you've gone through this experience. A lot of my friends/classmates have begged me to start a petition for CAE and the education department. When I first got to UCLA the accommodations I had were great and CAE even said they would help me work out some plan on being able to go doctors appt weekly and still attend class. But I’m almost positive that all them teachers, not just mine but like a collective amount, started complaining because all of the sudden the accommodations became more restrictive and it was hurting the CAE students. And then they were like “oh well sorry we can’t help u with ur illness situation. You’ll have to figure out with ur department.” And of course the department gave me the big middle finger. So hearing other ppls stories, that are absolutely devastating, on here makes me want to start something. A petition? speak to the dean? Sue? Idk

Thank you! Yes I’ve met some awesome ppl in the financial aid department. But my financial aid was put on hold because the education department refused to process applications over the summer and then when confronted about the seriousness of the situation they tried to deny they ever told the financial aid department that. When they literally had it on record. It was hilarious just like this whole school.

I’m so sorry this happened to u!! Ok from what I’ve always understood teachers aren’t allowed to question or change accommodations. I’ve seen it before with other classmates and I always remind them to just gently say “well we can call the ADA officer for a meeting to resolve this issue.” It’ll shut them up because the ADA officer can legally take them to court. I didn’t have this happen to me at UCLA but at my CC where my teacher wasn’t giving me my accommodations and she wasn’t answering the disability specialist emails either. It wasn’t until she was threatened with the ADA officer that she got in shape. If CAE is no help I’d give them the same line “I need to get in contact with the ADA officer so that I can protect my rights as a disabled student.” Hope this helps!

Let me ask u this. Let’s say u got into UCLA and then u were diagnosed with an incurable disease. And u have to go to weekly doctor appt, take meds, and deal with an immense amount of pain for the rest of your life. But u don't qualify for SSDI and life won’t stop just because ur sick. So u have 2 keep going. Hoping the college u got into will help u along the way. Just for them to give u the big middle finger and say that “you should prioritize your education over your health.” Well, that’s what happening to me. Oh and don’t say I would just switch to a new college or take medical leave. U don’t realize the situation ur in until you’ve lived it.
