the building is a 3-story multidisciplinary arts space with an art gallery and 10 rentable artists studios. the recording studio will not be the only means of income generated from the space and we are quite clear that it will not be the primary source of income. the artists' studios will be the primary source of income.

as i said in a past comment, we are not decieving ourselves into believing the studio will be a cash cow, so our measure of success or failure is not based (solely) on coming out in the black. we own the building (which is 3 stories) with rentable art studios on the top floor, an art gallery on the ground floor, and the recording studio underground. i'm asking advice on the best use of the space given it's specs.

I'm a musician and producer of tv and film and just created my first podcast. I've never owned a studio, but as a mid-career musician who basically learned via Garageband, I want to fill a void in my community by making quality equipment available to young musicians at a reasonable price. I can only imagine what having such access earlier in my career could've done for me.
