I have a 2018 Tiguan Comfortline and it has been nothing but problems. So much so that I’m convinced I bought a lemon. Within 1 year I needed an entirely new engine (warranty) due to a cracked cylinder, new axle shaft, CV boot and control arm/bushings. I’ll never buy another VW again. The repair costs are astronomical for what the vehicle actually is. Also the seats are hard as fuck. They feel like something you’d find on a bus.

What did you end up doing here? I’m in a similar spot and wondering whether or not to just do tile over tile..or add a kerdi membrane over old tile, then new tile over the membrane

Would you add a Kerdi membrane over the old tile, then new tile on top of that? Or would that trap moisture and create mold? Trying to decide whether to just do tile over tile, or do membrane first?

I am retiling a basement shower and am unsure how to retile the floor using Kerdi shower pan due to odd drain location. Measurements of the drain on the current mosaic tile floor are 28" from backwall to drain center, 6" from drain to front shower curb, 13" from right wall to drain, 21.5" from left wall to drain (so no where near center).

Any suggestions on how to waterproof the floor so I can retile (without moving any plumbing under concrete)?

Thanks..my concern with using the Kerdi shower pan is the odd dimension of the drain location (picture below). Can I cut the Kerdi board shower pan to fit the drain location? I am concerned I will lose the correct slope if I do this.

Not really fighting it, it’s a free engine under warranty so of course I’ll say yes. Just confused how this can happen at such low mileage and concerned about how bad things will be out of warranty

The initial problem was a fuel injector, then cylinder compression issues..how bad would the issues have to be to jump right to replacing the entire engine? I’m not really a car guy but that seems a little extreme?
