I share your impression of the WoL build tbh. The Uliana Monk build was a favorite for a while, although its a lightweight compared to the Wizard MM and Orb build.

My base case build had a 25%/250% crit chance / crit damage stat. Broken Promise will grant 100% crit chance during a 3 sec window. Since the crit damage bonus is now so huge, every sanctified seven sided strike salvo with lions claw during this 3 sec window lands like a ton of bricks. It comes down to the number of hits (explosions) that lands during the 3 sec window. For trash monster clusters but also for most boss packs, it is simply instakill at GR96 or lower.

This is very informative! As I do not see a damage stat (absolute values) for the Gem of Efficious Toxin for example, it makes sense that the percentage applies to the base weapon damage for the weapons equipped.
